  1. I think the Dentist's Superman #1 is a $3,000,000 book. It's the most valuable non-Action #1/Detecrtive #27 comic, in my mind. 5. If you work up from the 9.0 price it might be expected to be a $30k book right now. Doubling value for every .2 is a rough guide to value for Silver Age books and 9.0 DD #1s sell for between $7500 - $8500. That puts you at $15,000+ for a 9.2 and $30,000+ in 9.4. Obviously, if 9.6s are at $35-38,000 then that rough guide falls apart here. If 9.6s were back at $50-60,000 then we'd be back on track
  6. Oh, I know, but it still brings up a crazy point about the book's price trajectory.
  7. That's just the thing, the TV series has had an effect it's just been slower to show itself in the highest grade copies. I think that's changing now.
  8. What Yeah, the top level has been beaten down for a few years. The multiples have been compressed for a while. There's upward pressure from lower grade copies being hot and then there's been a weird cap at the highest level holding down the higher grade values. A 9.0 would sell for $7-8000, a 9.2 would sell for $9-11000 and then a 9.4 would sell for $15-18000. I would expect a bigger spread between those grades. The 9.4/9.6 ratio was normal (most 9.6s were basically 2x 9.4s) but 9.6s have been stagnant. Right now 9.4 look like they're getting closer to where I would expect them to be.
  9. To the Astro City set... can we add: ASTRO CITY SPECIAL #1
  10. Yeah, this one is going to tickle at what that ComicLink 9.6 sold for a few months ago. That book was such a bargain. Everything else recently has been super-strong.
  11. I posted it somewhere, but here it is again. It's a great copy for the grade. I'm really happy with it.
  12. As with the DD #1 thread- I had reason to dig through my boxes today, so I took a quick group shot (the 2nd #9 is the White Mountain copy- there's a huge bindery tear- it's 9.6 otherwise)
  13. I had reason to pull these out of storage today.
  14. The #86 might be another 9.2 but even if it is, it will pay for the lot.
  15. Ending tonight Justice League (bwahahaha) 1-83 + complete Warren Ellis Stormwatch These are some damn fine lots Justice League International 1-83 + Annuals Giffen Maguire Hughes Stomwatch 37-50, v2 1-4,5-11, WildC.A.T.S/Aliens Complete Warren Ellis
  16. If I were looking for a low grade DD#1, I'd set a budget and cast a wide net.-the boards, eBay, the auction sites. They come up regularly and if you're patient you can find a good deal.
  17. I'm really happy with it. It's an incredibly sharp book. I can't wait to get it in hand.
  18. I'm still trying to figure out what level of insanity I'll need for this one. I'm just hoping it's not 5 years until the next one shows up at 9.4+!
