  1. Anybody else not get books they paid for in Adam's big sale here on the boards?
  2. If they do a good job during the year then I agree that an end-of-the-year bonus is warranted. If they do a job during the year then no bonus. Perfect example: Our normal mail carrier Kent, who delivers our mail Monday thru Friday, always leaves boxes and packages on our porch and never tries to cram them into our mailbox. He always places our regular mail with the packages when we do receive some (rubber banded together so they don't fly away). He even leaves a dog biscuit every day as he knows we have 2 miniature dachsunds (the oldest one gets them because our youngest dog has a liver shunt and can't have protein). He always smiles when you talk to him too. He gets a bonus. (thumbs u Then again the girl who delivers mail on Saturdays (even though she's pretty hot) DOES cram comic envelopes into the mailbox. And when she does leave boxes on the porch she doesn't put the regular mail with it. We still have to walk to the box to get the rest of the mail. Plus she pretty much has that look on her face all the time that tells you she got screwed over by a guy at some point and now ALL men are bastards. She DOESN'T get a bonus. My M-F mailman has been on our route since....forever. I live in a rural area, and my driveway is 2 acres long, mailbox by the road. If I get a package M-F, he will drive down the driveway, struggle out of his truck, rain or shine (he's got a prosthetic leg), and carry my parcels to the door. He'll knock on the door to poersonally deliver if he can, and if no one is home and it looks stormy, he'll wrap the parcels in plastic (even though we have a covered porch), just to be safe. Yeah, he gets a Ben Franklin every Christmas. Our Saturday deliveryperson leaves parcels on the ground, by the mailbox, rain or shine. We tried tipping her into better service the first couple of years, but no amount of of talking or bribing would coerce her into decent service. She gets a fruitcake every year. I've worked in the service industry, waiting tables, bartending, etc. So, I always tip when someone goes above and beyond the call of duty, no matter what the job. I know postal carriers are paid a decent living wage, but I also recognize that my M-F guy does way more than he has to, so I have no problem tipping him $100 every X-Mas. That's also why I give a fruitcake to my Saturday deliveryperson, because that's like leaving pennies for a bartender. If you can't be bothered to do a decent job, I can't be bothered to supplement your salary, especially when I've specifically asked you to not leave packages in the rain. Sounds like we have a trend here.... I'm beginning to think it's a female thing. Great service from the guys during the week and lousy service from the gals on the weekend.
  3. What's a shirtbox? Is it free like the other ones? Yes - it's the smaller over-sized comic mailer box - more importantly, it is lighter. this one: linky not this one: stinky The O-1097 box is the one I use most of the time. (thumbs u

  5. Oh, and if I charge $5.00 for shipping I'm sending it via Flat Rate Priority Mail envelope sandwiched between 2 pieces of cardboard. I always give my eBay buyers the option of Priority or 1st Class - $5.00 for Priority, $3.00 for 1st Class. I can't see charging anybody $5.00 for 1st Class or Media Mail shipping.
  6. Major kudos to the following board members for the nice deals and GREAT packing jobs: 1) Bronzilla for a huge lot of old Dell Tarzan comics. (thumbs u 2) Joeypost for a nice set of 8 "turd" slabs that look a hell of a lot better than 8.0's and 9.0's. 3) Count for a nice big lot of ASM and Hulk issues. Some nice upgrades here! Thanks guys!
  7. I was going through a box of duplicates when I ran across this double cover issue (Fantastic Four #312): I had already noted it as a double cover but had stuck it back in the same box. It goes into the "double cover collection" now! Shark
  8. Kudos to nik for a nice Creatures On The Loose slab shipped promptly. (thumbs u
  9. Kudos to Heroes Haven for 5 sweet Marvel slabs and a couple of freebie Captain Marvels. Kudos also to ft88 for a couple of nice final issues (Machine Man #19 and World's Finest #323) and a nice Spider-Man #1 Gold issue. (thumbs u Shark
  10. Yeah, some of the people on the current probation list have been on there for almost 2 years now. So do they have to complete the original deal that got them on the list in the first place? Or can the seller just say "Hey, take 'em off the list. We either completed the deal or decided not to complete it."
  11. Junk Yeah, I'd get rid of that krap if I were you. Sell 'em to me for $25 each.
  12. That #110 is one of my favorite Avengers covers. I just love all of the bright colors on that cover!
  13. More big kudos to Joe (taxguy) for a couple of sweet Marvel Treasury Editions (#8 and #14). Thanks! Shark
  14. Big kudos to Scott (cloudofwit) for a sweet deal on some nice CGC upgrades of ASM #238 and ASM #252. Thanks Scott! (thumbs u Shark
  15. Big kudos to Mark (esquirecomics) for a couple of nice, old pre-hero Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense issues. Thanks Mark! Shark
  16. Kudos to the following boardies: 1) eddly for a nice batch of Wolverine comics that finished out my 1 thru 100 run, plus a nice TOS #61 2) DCman for a couple of sweet Iron Man issues (#11 and #69) 3) comicseekers for a nice batch of superhero FlairPrints and a nice Spidey Mag
  17. I'll be having a big "Help me pay Filter81 for that AF #15 I just bought" sale. There will be a nice mix of raw and slabs anywhere from Golden Age to Modern Age. I also listed a piece of original art (X-Men #110, page 11) on eBay so if you have any interest in OA go check that out as well (just click on the original art pic in my sig to view the art). Shark
  18. I've replaced the 2nd scan of the bullpen so you can see the names now. It's Nora Maclin, Barbara Altman and Lenny Grow. (thumbs u
  19. And who might that be? I'm a Marvel guy....
  20. Shark, You might want to forward this to the San Francisco PD. I think you may have found the Zodiac Killer in Jumbo John Verpoorten.
  21. Mine has no writing in it either. I used my Dell printer software to draw circles around the names after I scanned the pages.
  22. That Denise Vladimer looked pretty hot too.
