  1. How's the 33 look? Nice copy. I'd guess 9.2-9.4. Might even go 9.6 with a press?
  2. Finally got around to taking pics of last night's auction winnings. Total of 126 comics in all including: Avengers Annuals 6-9,11-13,15 Giant-Size Avengers 2,4,5 Incredible Hulk 271,272 Inhumans 1-12 Logan's Run 1-7 Sandman 1-6 Showcase 91-93 Swamp Thing 20-56 consecutive, Annual 2
  3. I pcked up a short box full of comics tonight at a local auction including a nice big run of Swamp Thing. Nice copies of #25 and #37 were in there. I also grabbed a lot which had great copies of Hulk #271 and #272. I'll post pics in the morning.
  4. I'd say you did very well for only spending an hour in there. (thumbs u
  5. I still remember when Edge of Spider-Verse #2 first came out. I liked the regular cover much better so I bought 5 of those and avoided the variant. I just didn't like the art, well, because her head was so damned big. I was thinking "Who would want that?". Slight error in judgement.
  6. Congrats on the great find Chip. (thumbs u Nothing like Chip's fantastic pickup, but I did purchase about 160 Silver and Bronze Age comics and 25 Mad magazines from the 70s earlier today from my eye doctor. They're mostly low to mid grade books and most were DC and Gold Key books. There were some good ones in there though: Hanna-Barbera TV Super Heroes #1 Marvel Spotlight #5 (1st Ghost Rider) Thor 143-146 Detective #359 (1st Batgirl) coverless Strange Adventures #205 (1st Deadman), 214 We had already talked about these comics over a year ago. He still had them in 2 old suitcases in his office. As my wife and I were leaving he said "Those comics. Take them! Give me 20 bucks and they're yours. I just want them out of here." Needless to say I couldn't pass up that deal.
  7. The books were part of an estate sale...kept in unregulated storage. Some are surprisingly newsstand-fresh. The older books are low-grade, but the Bronze stuff is really nice for where it came from. I'm debating getting the GS #1 and FF #45 graded...I just hate to have them tied up for a long time. Peace, Chip Fast Track.
  8. Let her know that. Maybe they'll magically appear (she'll find them).
  9. If you only sold her 2 copies through eBay and she received 2 copies then she doesn't have a claim. She got what she paid for through eBay.
  10. Did you send all 5 in one package or were they 2 separate packages?
  11. Yeah, I think you're right. I have a feeling that most of the "destroyed" copies are at the apartment or in the car trunks of a lot of Hot Topic employees.
  12. Feel for those that were dropping $100+ . Win some and lose some. I doubt that many of the board sales for that amount are going through, and eBay will be a sea of buyer complaints that will effectively nullify those sales too. Unless there were some cash sales that took place face to face in that short window, there shouldn't be much scarring over this one. There are so many still unanswered questions to this scenario that I'm just going to keep my 1 copy I picked up on the cheap yesterday and see what shakes out from all of this. Maybe go ahead and send it in for grading. How many of the "recalled" issues were printed? How many of these were already distributed? Were these only sent out to Hot Topic stores? How many were thrown out/trashed/destroyed by the stores? How many have been sold to the general public? Will there be a 2nd printing? Will it be different in any way? Did they "unrecall" this book because the rumor was already out about the Grey Hulk? I'm just going to sit back and watch.
  13. You win some you lose some I agree. The way I look at it is that if a buyer bought a book on the boards for $3 and a movie announcement was made a few hours later shooting the book up to $50, the presumption would be that the buyer still gets the book for the agreed upon price of $3. I think it would have to be the same in reverse when buying and the book drops in value. The buyer and seller still agreed upon a price. Now, some sellers may release them of their debt but that is completely up to them. (thumbs u
  14. That's because it is not recalled. It is delayed despite some here would have you believe. who the heck knows anymore.. the whole thing is so absurd.. iev heard people saying that this hottpic malarkey is the next 35 cent star wars  People forget that - this book had a million variants and I wouldnt be surprised that even if its recalled the print run of that variant will prolly be higher than some other variants of the same book.. Theres just too damn many Well IH324 is picking up steam on the bay probably because of this too. A few weeks ago, it was selling $8-10 tops. Last few days they've been going for $30-40+ or more. Has there been any definitive statement about whether the Hot Topics that are being "recalled" are indeed actually being destroyed - or just stored for later distribution? Looks like they are going back on sale From facebook Supposedly email sent to Hot Topic Stores official HOT TOPIC Star Wars #1 variant update: a) Do NOT purchase this variant on eBay at ridiculous prices ! b) Stores that did not discard and/or destroy their copies are returning them to the sales floor and continue to sell at $4.99 c) There is no confirmation that a "reprint" is coming. d) The FUNKO POP! Avengers image on the back of the comic is no longer "confidential". e) Bleeding Cool's terms of "recall" / "pulping" / and "spoiler" were not used in any of the Hot Topic official e-mails, and their stated price was not $3.99, actually it should of been $7.99, but stores are honoring the $4.99 cover price, until further notice. (again too much conflicting information) f) Hot Topic stores will receive "further direction" on Monday. I'm glad I saw this this morning. I immediately called all 3 OKC area Hot Topic stores asking about the Star Wars #1 variant. Two of the 3 stores had already (supposedly) trashed all of their copies. The store closest to me had 1 copy left. When I got to the store, I had to wait in line a couple of minutes and noticed a neat Thor hammer key ring. The stores are currently having a "Buy 1 item get 50% off the 2nd item". Since the key ring was slightly higher than the comic, I got the variant for $2.50.
  15. A 9.8 definitely won't happen. Maybe 9.4 but I'm thinking more like 9.0/9.2. Even so, there are no existing graded copies and they are VERY hard to find. I just saw the grade on that Destiny Science Fiction #2 fanzine I submitted. It's coming back a 9.6!!
