This is quite different from the subject of this thread, but it's funny in a way. In ASM #45, the brilliant minds of the Marvel Bullpen decided to give kids a chance to ruin what could eventually be a $20,000 comic book by leaving a panel with blank word balloons and encouraging kids to write their own dialogue! My God. In any case, below is my copy of ASM 45 and my copy of Marvel Tales #33, which reprints the story. I am sure I bought these at two different times and maybe even from two different LCS's, but nobody can convince me they weren't at one time owned by the same local kid. In those days, it wouldn't have mattered a whit to me if there was writing in these books - I wouldn't have noticed before buying them.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Ancient Alien theorists suggest time travelers from the future are among us. They're rarely proven wrong. Perhaps the slightly off timing is an effort to throw off pursuit.

It's mostly - but not entirely - a shot in the dark. Predictions about the future are a dime a dozen and it's hard to imagine the ones that come to pass do so because someone actually foresaw something rather than just making a good guess based on observable conditions. I just bought some newer stuff - which I have no interest in really - based on a thread on here where someone made a suggestion about how to determine what will be valuable in 20 or 30 years. Complete wild asx guess on my part.

For all the good it will do, and without naming names, I just sent off an email to CL about the general trend of "can't find" consignment books. In the long run, it's in their best interests that buyers have confidence in the system.

That kind of stuff gets you a proby/HOS designation around here.

I just finished up a re-reading of an SF series where they figure out how to reverse aging 'til you're physically about 25, then hold you there. They better get crackin' if I'm going to benefit.
