  1. You see 1 sale there, I see 3 sales there showing a pattern towards supporting my argument, but whatever. One sale, three sales, its' no 100% guarantee for ANY future sale to be sure, but it certainly has more credibility then someone coming on here and claiming that you are more correct then 3 actual sales listed on GPA. It's all that's known outside of CLink and any personal sales that people may know of I think it's time for an "Ask Gator" question................................
  2. You're talking like a sausage. No way a 7.5 brings in $45k and there is a 6.0 on Comiclink asking $25k NO TAKERS! You're talking like a sausage. No way a 7.5 brings in $45k and there is a 6.0 on Comiclink asking $25k NO TAKERS! Those are GPA numbers you knob
  3. I'd be fairly upset if EP 5.5's would only realize 12k/13k ............ I'd expect something at least double that EP ( 3.5 ) Trimmed $12,310 Feb-2014 EP ( 6.0 ) $25,000 Nov-2014 EP ( 7.5 ) $45,000 Jan-2014 My 7.5 :
  4. Good question. Not quite a SC22/AA16 combo, but AA17 ............
  5. I am going to send this in for grading soon, but here it is still raw: FISH
  6. I agree with others. Human Torch is America's most popular hero (except for Captain America). ^^^^^ Stunning colours !
  7. Rick, Have you, or do you, have any other collecting passions beyond comic books. I know your store sells a lot of toys, do you have a particular collecting interest in that area ? How about sports cards, memorabilia, magazines, etc? Just curious. Fish
  8. 172/137 respectively...quite "shocking" to me, in all honesty I'm beyond shocked, but can't say I'm "unhappy" .............. As much as I'd like to be happy too, I would consider them outlier sales at this point, until we can get some duplication in the market Of course, that's logical -- maybe someone else should test the market now
  9. 172/137 respectively...quite "shocking" to me, in all honesty I'm beyond shocked, but can't say I'm "unhappy" ..............
  10. Rick Maybe I missed where these final prices were discussed, but what were the final hammer prices for the restored Action 1 and Tec 27 in CC auction (Wise) Thanks, FISH
  11. A jaw dropping copy of one of the best comics in all of the golden age +1 (thumbs u Beauty! OMG! What a treasure you have there, congrats!
  12. Hi Rick, long time ..... do you think the Action 1 restored in CC auction will break 100K ? FISH
  13. Hey, Congrats! I'm really glad this found a good home, and a Boardie no less! I upgraded this one and decided to try the auction route with it. My only mistake was not sending it to Matt first to check it out. CL got it slabbed for me and it surprisingly came back purple. I'm not sure it would have sold for tons more, but I was sold this as unrestored several years ago by a certain huge dealer of comics who has been bashed enough on these Boards for years with their "questionable" grading. Oh well, enjoy it and definitely get it out of that darned slab and let Matt upgrade it for you. FISH
  14. My guess that it will sell at $4250 $4350. There may be a ceiling for restored or even slightly brittle copies, but it seems like there's also something of a floor. I'd guess that "most times" a #35 with a cover that presents that well is going to break $4K, almost regardless of its other qualities. I agree with both of your range of estimates. And P5, I completely agree with your reasoning of Tec 35. As I said earlier I believed (and still pretty much do) that the general going rate of a Tec 35 with a cover regardless, should be more in line with 5K. These EP are just odd balls right now and the fact that there are too so close probably hurt the rate of the former. I think your dead on with the floor being 4K, and frankly due to the volatile nature of the book, even though sources indicate the 3.0 EP should logically sell for much lower (say a grand or so) than the 5.5 EP, I still would not be surprised (however unlikely) if the 3.0 EP somehow sold for more than the 5.5 EP - given how volatile the market is. And as Rick said that 5.5 had a poor visual appearance in person. It's already sitting at $3,101 with 12 days left. http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview.asp%3Fcode%3D2011juneEB%26pg%3D3%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%23Item_889552&id=889552 ...Now $4,103 and 10 days left. Just want to clarify one thing: the 5.5 EP looks very nice in hand ; it is (was) mine. I am very unhappy that it went for under 5K -- I was definitely expecting 6K - 7K. Oh well. But the explanation above of the volatility of Tec#35 was excellent.
  15. Quite true. No dealer will EVER receal nothing. iphone typing error anyways when buying/speding big on a car you don't ask advice from the car dealer; big watch-don't ask advice from the watch salemans.... same applies to the boards here; especially if its someone that has a book he or she wants to sell or buy Just to bad that all the were selling the ordinary Joe-Schmoe doesnt hold up: for instance that 'the boards are for entertainment as well as education', etc, etc. This is void in light of the fact that "center" knowledge (about developmental trends regarding plods, keybooks, prices etc) circulates in rather tightly controlled closed networks. That is as PM-loops for selectees and the guys (i.e. dealers) 'in the know'. The "open" threads on the boards are then reserved for Joe Sixpack. In the open threads the saying just goes like: "Buy it! - great price, thats a steal, restoreds are deathrow = stay away, etc. etc. So we got two boards in one: the PM /dealer closed board and the open Joe Scmoe Board with all the clichees and 'Just Buy it' frases about 'that book has definitely dobbelt in price' (thumbs u (That said from me who is a joe ) I'm not sure I follow everything you are trying to say in your post above. But I am reasonably sure that in the GA section, if someone asks for advice or information they will receive it. Many of my long-time friends on this board, are actively dealing comic books for a living. Others, just to fuel the growth of their own collection. I've dabbled, to a certain degree in both segments. When I was a comic dealer, years ago, I had a full-time real job as well so I've never really depended on comics to feed the family so to speak, and I still sell comics, but just as a side venture to build my collection and make some additional money. The group of close friends I have on here, for the most part, pre-date by many years the existence of these boards, and we don't keep information relegated to PM disucssions or hushed whispers. I think the level of openness and information sharing is admirable here. Gator, Billy, Richard Evans, Steve Carey, Jon Berk, Moondog Gary, Todd Warren, Russ Moore, et al will always give open, honest advice about books when asked. As will I. Others like Bangzoom, BB Gun, Kenny, WalClark, Adam Strange, HepCat, etc will fill you to the brim with information about comic history whether you ask or not! So, if I mis-read your post and that isn't what you were saying, forgive my long winded post. If I read it right, you may want to consider the above. Bill I too was trying to follow the train of thought, and was getting a bit confused and honestly "uncomfortable" with where that train of thought seemed to be going, and then you posted Bill. I'm still not sure what is trying to be said, but I have gone from knowing next to nothing about GA 5 years ago to progressively getting deeper and deeper into it and learning more and more ---- and it's been 100% due to the unselfishness of the good people here on these Boards, many of whom have vested interests in terms of profit-making in the very books they give advice about. I have also purchased huge books directly from otherwise complete strangers on these Boards and can tell you I have not lost one penny, and all info provided was above board, accurate, and beyond fair. I am more of an "observer" on the Boards now, as opposed to a regular contributer as I am pretty much set in all the major GA collecting that I set out to do 5 years ago, but I had still read and soak in as much as I can here on these Boards so I always have my finger on the pulse of what my books are "doing" at any given time in the market, and I trust these Boards to give me the best information available. FISH
  16. Gator, What would a Fair Market price be for a Blue Label 3.0 O/W PQ Action #15 be? 1.5X Guide ? 2X Guide ? Thanks, FISH
