  1. 9.4. I don't think the color flaking along the spine gets dinged since it happens when the cover folds over the book in production. The color rub is pretty minor around the staple. Rest of the book is candy-like.
  2. My grand-niece is into Wonder Woman in a big way. She's 8. So, I bought her a signed Adam Hughes issue. That "AH" thing is a bugger. But his art is superlative.. And I get it. I imagine a lot of artists and celebrities are concerned about forgeries not only for their fans sake but their own sake. I know George Perez has a few different ways he signs. I bet none of them are the way he signs receipts or checks. Bernie Wrightson signed a half dozen different ways as well.
  3. I was able to get Kane's sig on a Dynamic Forces "Batman Archives Vol. 1" then a Jerry Robinson on a different copy of "Batman Archives Vol. 1". For some reason, I value the Robinson sig more than the Kane.
  4. I have always been partial to "Snik!" I will even accept "Snikt!" From Batman #241:
  5. How come people always think it's Satan? Why not Jesus? You weren't vomiting green bile or anything while you did the trick, right? Next time, try sandals and a caftan.
  6. They'd think you were in league with Satan and start yelling stuff like "The power of Christ COMPELS you!" and throwing water at you. That whole thing about Clark Kent stooping a little and glasses made zero sense. Someone postulated he vibrated slightly to alter his appearance. Yeah, but no. He was surrounded by investigative reporters and one in particular who was hot for Superman. Women memorize every detail. No way he'd get away with it. The Superman I miss most is the pre-Crisis Superman with Curt Swan. All this modern Superman stuff is not for me.
  7. Well, now I have to watch it. I give everything a chance before it ultimately disappoints me. LOL! Not that it will. "Watchmen" was very good although REALLY depressing. I didn't go on a bummer when I read the series.
  8. Ah yeah. WTF was up with casting that dude as Luthor? He was a ginger? I was expecting someone at least like the Kingpin. Or The Rock.
  9. That is a fact. I liked Man Of Steel a lot even though even here on the boards it was bashed to pieces. Those battle sequences were really well done. I can't speak to the latter movies. I haven't watched only Bat v Supes. Which didn't really grab me.
  10. There is an interesting POV about Elvis Presley movies. They always made money but they were not so good. Hal Wallis said once he made THOSE movies to fund GOOD movies he was making. That's some cold cheese but an interesting thought. Not sure WHAT Warners is doing with their bad movie money.
  11. Haha. The ol' Russian Nesting Doll approach. A TV box all the way down to a 3x5 index card sized box where the encapsulated baseball card rests.
  12. Yeah, buddy. That is it in a nutshell. bragging rights. Ego. Along with that the inability to honestly grade and value your books yourself. Relying on the third party who is likely not much better than I am grading books. The grades slip and slide from year to year. Last years loose grading is next years tight grading. They say older slabs are not accurate and some say they are more accurate. The fear of God is put into the collector: "Oh NO! What if it's had RESTORATION? What if there are PAGES MISSING? I won't be able to tell!" No you won't unless you educate yourself. There is really nothing CGC or any other grading company can do that you can't teach yourself to do. If detecting resto is just a black light? Get one. I have seen many beautiful books take a kick in the teeth because on "Minor Color Touch On Cover". Usually a black dot near the staples. Or the thin, black border line going down the spine of the book. So, I "lose" 45-55% of its "Untouched" value? I don't think so. I don't collect for other people or to impress them. Like the music I collect, my comics are chosen because I want them and I like them. I don't by bulk. I don't buy grades. If slabbed, I buy the book and not the number. I have some VERY nice looking 7.0's. I have some iffy looking 9.2's. No. There is so much play and ambiguity in the grading process. We depend on the opinion of another person. That person may be having a tough life and it will show in his work. We are all just people after all. So, with all that said, I collect for the sheer fun of it. It helps keep me young at heart. That's worth more to me than "flipping".
  13. It's Warner Bros, you know? The executives are involved in the creating process. Something they should not be involved in AT ALL. "My grandson wants to see Batman THIS way. Make it so."
  14. They all missed the mark. I am glad you loved them but I cannot get past the mediocrity in DC films. They are cheaply made and unimaginative. And you have NO IDEA how I wish it wasn't so.
  15. I was always under the impression that the movies were corny by proxy. Because they were trying so hard for brand recognition. And all the while alienating the fan who loved and knew the character. I showed a friend my copy of Batman #3 a few years ago. Heavy book. Know what he did? "Duh-nuh-nuh-BAT-MAN!" Totally ignorant of what he was looking at.
  16. They still could. I cannot believe they don't know Marvel is killing them at the box office. Even the first Fantastic Four movie held my attention. In 1999, I moved to where I live now. I sought out a LCS and made small talk with the owner. We talked about Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. He asked me: "You know who would make an AWESOME Bruce Wayne if they did that movie?" Without missing a beat, we both said at the same time "Clint Eastwood". LOL! Because you just KNOW the character and the vibe so well.
  17. I really don't understand it either. They are all trash. But they make huge bucks. I think our curse is we actually know the character. The buffoons who love the movies are equating it with the TV show. A rumour I heard during the filming of the 1989 movie: Adam West pulled a layton Moore and felt he was the only one who should be wearing the cape and cowl. Do, Burton offered him a part in the movie. Bruce's father. Hahahahaaaaa!
