  1. Not sure it matters to anyone else but I would be interested in whether only the cover(s) display the brittleness, interior page(s), or both. I like @Squeggs scale above. I'm sure it has been discussed and I remember Rick's (@gator) explanation of brittleness but is there a rule of thumb for what would bump from SB to Brittle? I assume it is a subjective grading call.
  2. Know you are new so welcome. For negotiations or offers, it is best and appropriate to send a Private Message to the seller. If you click on the seller's board name, the profile will show up and a tab to send a message. Good luck.
  3. It is a sweet copy, Jon. Share the results when you it back. I wouldn't be surprised if it hits higher.
  4. This cover has always captivated me. Along with #2 and #6 and a nod to #3 as well, my favorite O'Melias - not that I could afford any of those books because of some do-gooder with a big S on his chest
  5. Yeah Bob as others have said - super collection of books and obviously great covers.
  6. I believe it still has to be 30 days before a nomination occurs and clearly has not been long but I may have missed itin your post but can you provide the link to the thread and the payment terms stipulation noting when payment is due? I think it gets fuzzy at times as even with time limitations - is it by when the invoice is sent, when you post the take it, etc. I personally do not wait for an invoice as I send a PM right after I buy to get a PP addy but that is just me. And have you notified him of this nomination (albeit too early) so he can offer his responses?
  7. $10K encompasses a ton of books. For me, a smaller range of value would help make my decision, e.g., I might throw a single graded GA/SA slab on Ebay with a value of $250 or less or so. Also, for me it would depend on how many books I am consigning or listing at one time. Auction houses may may discount consignor fees depending on the quality and quanity of the listings, especially for slabbed books. If I were to have something like that, I would shop it around to see where I might get the best bang for my buck. Also I would want to know what type of auction it would be in - HA has Signature and Weekly, CC and CL have their Monthly and Event type auctions. I would assume that decision is predicated on quality, quanity, relationship with the auction house, etc. as the featured, signature auctions would get at least more publicity I assume since a catalog is printed and shipped to potential buyers. In all, at least with the 3 big ones HA, CC, and CL - I think quality tends to rise no matter which venue. But you look at sites like Proxibid and Live Auctioneers and they too command strong prices - Weiss auctions often brings quality books to auction and uses those plus their site to allow live bidding,
  8. They do present very well for the grade and look great and they are super books.
  9. Lamish cover but it was on the stand with Tec 27 (both with an on sale date of April 1939) A low grader but I love the cover and the detail Fine puts into this as he does on so many A great cover and on sale with Marvel Comics 1(although there are two versions of MC 1 wit different month release dates, correct?) Ultra-Man's first app.
  10. I put this big ape cover up there with Yarko and the Kongish ape ala Wonder Comics #2 (which< BP, I am waiting patiently for you to sell to me- not that I could afford it ) Great upgrade, BP!
  11. What were the books you bid on? I wasn't bidding but I will throw some further puishment bids on them Thiss has happened before with either CL or CC or both in the past if I am not mistaken. I remember one CC auction where they couldn't handle the volume of activity and the site went down during the auction closing. Seriously, good luck if you go after them again.
  12. Thanks all - reaffirmed my thoughts. I am fairly certain the sig is authentic. I've had this book for a while and just going through some books I hadn't looked at in many years - probably a mail-order TBG-order book to be honest so t has been a while. Thanks again.
  13. Curious, too, if they have been marked shipped/safe so you can see the grades - how did you do? Others above have shared the info but in case you the CGC pages detailing the process you can see it here - https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/
  14. I am pretty sure these are CT. This is a GA book that would grade around 3.0 maybe 4.0 on a very good day. I assume even at that grade, there is enough CT here to warrant a PLOD and not just a label notation of very minor amount... on a blue label?
  15. Greggy's right (gawd, I can't believe I said that publicly ) The spine realignment thread is a good read - A few other threads They have had a couple of forum accounts here. I have no idea if they are still currently active with another handle here:
  16. That is a great book. I bought the Detroit Trolley copy from Marnin years ago and love the cover. Not one you see too often.
  17. Those looked so nice and I have bought from Bill before and he is spot-on and leans conservative on his grades. Good buy - congrats and some solace al least for the CL losses.
  18. Very nice copy Larry, cool post! +1 Always liked this cover, even the choice of masks is cool! It would be fun if they put the masks and had aTwilight Zone like story where their faces stayed looking like the masks. Now that would be real Halloween fare.
