  1. Some low grade coverless lots of GA books as well as some other items. Incomplete copy of More Fun Comics #38, Atomic Thunderbolt #1 (missing BC) and more. Link to the auctions: https://www.ebay.com/sch/telerites/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  2. I know this has been discussed before and I think I know the answers but please either confirm or correct the following: I have a National Comics #4 that would grade around 4.0 or so I believe. The book is signed presumably by Will Eisner on the first page and it does appear to be authenic. I know of course it will be a SS book but my questions are: With the book in lower grade, I am assuming unless there are other restoration/conservation/qualifying defects, it will get a blue label and not a qualified. I also realize the signature may impact the grade negatively although again it is not a high grader so the cumulative affects of all other wear and condition factors, I do think the signature could drop it drastically. So first two questions: Blue Label or Green Label? At a 4.0 grade otherwise, how much does the signature drop it if any? As a follow-up to those questions: I believe I can request a blue label instead of green if CGC did opt to go green. By requesting the blue label, the grade would show the decrease based on the signature. Is that correct as far as the request for an interior signature that I can ask for blue and have the signature count as a negative grading defect? Also, since it is a known creator, albeit unwitnessed/uncertified, will CGC note on the label - "Will Eisner" written on 1st page. I found Gemma's response to a similar question from Ask CGC so I assume that is still accurate. Here are some pics of the signature in case you were curious. Thanks folks
  3. I totally agree. It should be standard practice to add Apparent to the numeric grade then note the qualifying defects.
  4. Metro sticker or not, either 0.5 or a qualified grade. Missing page, back cover missing ect usually garners a poor. I prefer the qualified grade because of the overall look and the fact that the page missing is from a lousy story that I would probably just flip past anyway. A great copy for my purpose and one that I probably couldn't see myself paying up for anyway. It just kind of amazes me that Metro would put that grade on it with that defect. I would give it a Q grade if I ever wanted to part with it. And full disclosure as you did. I don't buy from them much unless it's in person. Cool books, Corey! If I remember correctly, this has come up before on another book that someone had. I believe Metro responded that since they made the defect evident, there was no need to add qualified to the grade; however, I thought they did modify that stance. I actually thought it was Vincent that responded but my memory may be failing me.
  5. You probably don't remember, Michael, but you were the one who suggested to me to set up a Fedex account when I sent some books your way for SS. That was some time ago and was great advice.
  6. I send in 25 as you pay invoice fees for each separate invoice and I would prefer to get the maximum number allowed per invoice. Shipping I believe will wash across multiple shipments if you compare rates. I also use my FedEx account which is free to set up and I just list my FedEx account on the invoice in the space provided. I actually don't remember if that discounts anything straight from FedEx. I would never UPS for anything of the choices. USPS is okay for me though but FedEx is my preference.
  7. I just saw the Pawn Stars episode where someone brought in this book along with a Spidey 1 and Dennis the Menace 1. Nice copy, Jon.
  8. There is a Want to Buy forum here that you should post this in. Itis advised that you add a few details like what you are willing to pay or at least a range. Also if you have a page quality minimum and whether you want just a universal label or would consider restored/conserved. Here is the link and good luck. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/50-comics-market-want-to-buy/
  9. Yes like Bob said, receipt. It has been a while since I have subbed but I thought they wrote paid on the returned invoice.
  10. Flipping through a Four Favorites book and this panel just isn't right. Imagine the dialog fun one could have with this.
  11. And also more tongue in cheek frivolity if they did change it, it would not surprise me though if someone did request a free reholder or if someone tried to "ebay" an old label Fox as "old Fox label goodness and rarity." Heck Neatstuff is now marketing a Silver Collection they bought and have listed and calling it the "Peroria Edgar Church" Collection in the title and description. Here is one of their listings and cut from the description - And apologies for this side-track to the OP topic but this irked me when I saw it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-102-142-EDGAR-CHURCH-all-9-2-9-6-ONLY-NM-Marvel-Comic-Book-/362107214727?hash=item544f459b87:g:9CkAAOSwEkhZvw2c The books offered in this collection are from one person who bought off the news stand in Peoria, Illinois from 1965 to 1975, placed in carefully wrapped shopping bags and put into beer boxes for the next 42 years. Over the next few weeks we will be offering the books from this collection in lots. Every single book in this collection is near mint. Expert care has been taken into this. Every book has brand new bags and boards. Please check our other lots being offered from this “Peoria Edgar church” collection.
  12. This change is so minor and insignificant that I really doubt they would be swamped with reholder requests. Unless, some would use this as an excuse to get e FREE Reholder to the new slab design. If a change were made, I think CGC could legitimately turn down a Reholder request to 'fix' the label on something like this. I realize this thread is more about the attitude of CGC rather than the actual change but I really think the change, for programming reasons referenced above, may not be as trivial as everyone thinks. Let's face it, CGC is generally not transparent, they keep secrets. I think the 'fact' that they are using some outdated legacy software is one of these secrets. They said NO, they offend one customer. That customer takes it to the Boards, gets a small reaction but they know it will blow over quickly. It always does. Bob I hope you know I was being facetious regarding the reholder requests (hence the emoticon).
  13. If CGC makes the change, I could see them getting requests for reholders at no cost since they made a labeling error By the way, Alter Ego 101 is all about Fox in case anyone is interested.
  14. In Lonestar/Mycomicshop's current weekly auction. Great covers, stories and writers represented. One has a cover by Bundage. They are good - fair condition but they are complete. I think the Planet Stories cover is just amazing. Thanks for looking. Fantastic Adventures Lot of 2 Fantastic Adventures Lot of 2 Fantastic Adventures Lot of 3 Pulp Lot of 2 Pulp Lot of 2
  15. Isn't the collection name -"Hidden Valley," an oxymoron? I mean it's not hidden anymore since they found it so "Found Valley" would be more appropriate
  16. This takes me back to my first and only exposure to Fantazia Comics and Daniel Dupcak via an ad in TBG. It only took one order but that was enough. Ordered a few GA books which for me at the time were pretty costly being a college student. It had to be around 1980s. All grossly overgraded. One had bright shiny new staples to boot. Never could get him to call me back - go figure.....And each call to him was a costly long-distance - obviously. A few snail letters went unanswered as well.
