  1. Hey. we're cool. I should have used the "joke icon" on my post to tone it down a bit. Anyway, I'm a REAL GL lover and if you care to share your books, we'd love to see them. But beware! You'll get a mil PMs!! You bring great insights to the Boards with your experience.
  2. (It's a joke aman). Yes, post them, we'd love to see them. The PQ avg or above avg ?
  3. Just the reverse. Good news for anyone hoarding Showcase 22s, because the run up lasts longer as the anticipation time is what causes the run up. The movie will get made, but the problems attached to it may drag it out a bit. Perhaps one day it will get killed, but certainly most people don't believe that right now. Book isn't cooling whatsoever right now, as demand is still at a fever pitch and based on the offers on copies I've had above 6.0, it makes it nearly impossible to turn down some of the offers i've received. But I have thus far because I believe the future on this book is still very bright. This is just the pause that refreshes. There are so few copies out there for sale. If any copies (normally grades less than 5.0) that are priced reasonably, it would be snatch up. Take this opportunity to buy and you will be rewarded in the long term. Richard, I think that aman619 (above post) does not have a 22 nor does he want one...
  4. Show off. Books above five figures are out of most collector's range. With prices of quality vintage comics climbing steady off the past years, five figure prices will be in the past. I predict if a Showcase #22 CGC 9.2 ever surface, it will be in the 100000 the club. no way jose. I think it would be a possibility. These are a few recent sales of Showcase 4. Showcase #4 9.6 CGC 5/22/2009 Heritage Sale $179,250 Showcase #4 9.4 CGC ComicConnect sale, 9/29/2008 $160,200 Looks real to me.
  5. we must be married to twin sisters.
  6. thank goodness for the understanding spouse...
  7. Metropolis had a Showcase 22 CGC 8.0 a few days ago and it sold already. It was a private sale, and no price was disclose. Rick, was that the copy you offer $12500 from a private collector. If it was, this copy probably sold for over $15000+???20000 + What nincompoop would pay > $10k for a funny book?
  8. Think about it. If the inside cover was preserved well enough (and many of them are), that could be the best known copy...just a thought.
  9. Was at Metropolis a few days ago. Saw at least 7 or 8 Showcase #22s. Not sure if they are on their site. No surprise since they did an email blast to customers trying to buy up 22s. Sure they will be setting up at whatever show and in auctions with a zillion 22s, as they often do with the hot key of the moment... Careful buying raw 22s. They are notoriously CT'd along the green area of the spine (green CT seems to be the hardest to detect). Coincidentally, I bought a 22 from Fischler about 10-12 years ago. Beautiful WHITE cover to cover. Snow white pages. Had a book length vertical crease along spine, light CT, and a blotted area on the BC to cover some red markings. VG at best but still extraordinary paper. I sold it years ago.
  10. Has the movie been announced when it will hit the theatres? Any other threads on the Boards about it?
  11. Don't you know that every major dealer's inventories in the country have been scoured for 22s... Yee, Fischler, etc, just to name a few.
  12. Wow! That is a beauty Roy. Flip it out all you want !!! I've not seen better pages on ANY year, make, or model !
  13. Thanks kimik, and to all for the nice feedback. This one is for all us GL fans who have scoured the catalogs, CBG (Comic Buyer's Guide), and internet for decades. And a special thanks to Rick for allowing me to own this Gem.
  14. so start cracking Share Bear I wanna see some interior pics of this one: I was going to crack that in Chicago in front of the fellow geeks but was just too busy and overwhelmed to enjoy myself. Video footage it is! I'll be ready to crack it soon. Just want to say that guys like Peewee are assets to the hobby. I believe that comics are for enjoying. I have a hard time enjoy my books by simply looking at a cover through a plastic cover. That's why I've already cracked these books and photographed the interiors. Absolutely gorgeous books Roy !!!! Everyone click on the blazing fire engine #7 and tell me it looks the same in a slab! I can smell it here in Arkansas !!
  15. But, he's not a dummy either. We're talking about a serious book that is 60-70 years old.
  16. Good luck. That book sells itself on the cover alone!! Call me weird, but I love pink covers!
  17. Don't dare 'em....I know Roy is a slab cracker !!!
  18. Very nice indeed. CGC was very tough on those books ! You forgot to say the magic word !
  19. I'm just baiting you! Gorgeous collection ! Flash 106 is my fave SA DC cover !! I noticed someone was looking for one today advertised on their posts in 9.0. Could be a long wait...
  20. Thanks to all. It takes nerves of steel, a butter knife, and a very sharp pair of Wusthof scissors (the BEST German cutlery in the world).
  21. Uh oh ! No worries. I think guys like you and I who crack a small number of books out and enjoy the interiors are a lot smaller contributors than those that crack and resub a book and drop the label in the garbage, If my books ever go for sale the label goes back to CGC...the rest? Wel, as they say the rest is history. Agreed. I've got 3 BLs in my safe. That can't impact the overall pop's of those books.
  22. Thanks to Rick for the speeeedy service and the opportunity to own this GEM. Anyone wanting to do biz with Rick will have no problema. He's fast, knowledgeable, fair, honest, and ships ultra fast. Enjoy the scans of a 50 year old rare event!
  23. All's fair in love, war, and #22 hoarding !
