  1. Not quite three of a kind, but a set of three, but a straight. Descent, but could be better. One great set Richard ! Are you possessed with WPs ? Is there a CURE for that type of disease ? (The reason I ask is I may HAVE it !!)
  2. Here's an Executive Summary of why I love #22 and GK ! "Abin Sur lay dying in the desert next to his crashed ship. He uses the Power Battery to send the ring out to find help. The ring finds Hal Jordan, a test pilot, who is sitting in a trainer. The ring takes him to Abin Sur. He tells the story of how he came to Earth and crashed, that the yellow sunlight blinded him. Abin tells Hal there is an impurity within the power battery which makes the rings useless against the color yellow. The ring also has to be charged every 24 hours. Hal becomes the keeper of the battery and decides to call himself the "Green Lantern". Hal first uses the oath to recharge his ring and he is off. Hal saves a plane from crashing only to find out three thugs used a "radiation-sender" to bring it down. Hal easily takes care of the thugs and rushes back to try and woo Carol Ferris. She informs him that she is his superior and their will be no romance between them. Hal tries harder and harder to get somewhere with Carol, but nothing happens. She has an infacuation with the Green Lantern. So, Hal goes to the ball as the Lantern and dances the night away with Carol, which leads to a steamy kiss. Hal goes after a runaway missle, but his ring's bolts do no damage to it because the missle is yellow. Hal creates a giant net and catches the runaway missle. Hal goes after and catches the man who launched the missle with ease. Green Lantern goes back to Carol and she's mad because Green Lantern left in the middle of their kiss. "
  3. If you're buying to flip it...yes. If you're buying to keep...who cares. agreed. but if one is buying to keep, it feels like a bad time to be chasing the hottest book around, right? Then again, its moving so fast its also irresistible to lock in a copy now while its still rising. I just hope its not a summer fling, After all, its been a major key but sleeping soundly for a long long time. Actually reminds me of the Showcase 4 hysteria back in the 80/90s, when it was suddenly THE DC book to have. Of course, the movie is deal changer here. Good points. Remains to be seen if it is a fling. I think we're all happy it's bringing 22s outta the woodworks. A new Boardie posted a copy earlier in this thread with WPs and that's unheard of for a SA DC!
  4. Best post so far (I like this guy!)

  6. Don't be so sure. OSPG doesn't seem to bow to artificial movie hype demand when they consider raising a key books price. Marvel Spotlight #5 sells through the roof in high grade since that GR film was announced, but the guide still does not really reflect this because the book in by no means scarce and hasn't stood the test of time. OSPG may give GL #1 and SC #22 a slight bump, but they will wait until a clear trend over years is established before making a 20% or more increase, the way they did for GL #76. I agree with showcase22gr1959. But the 20% bump will come from record prices being fetched on the book, NOT the movie hype. As long as these #22 books continue to surface, I think record prices will be paid. Not because of the movie hype, but because many avid collectors have been looking for decades for premium grade #22s. They could care less about the movie. Just my opionion.
  7. Hang in there guys....we're definitely going to see what surprise is in the Crackerjack box !!
  8. Here's Rick's BC scan of the Showcase 22 7.5...more to come later.
  9. Hmm, that book looks very familiar.... A yellow and red Flash cover is like having sex on the hour all night on a cold wintery "snowed-in" night !!
  10. Dang nice ! Looks 9.6 ish to me. I mean, there is nothing wrong with the book. Man, that's a close call on the top edge (almost into the CCA)
  11. Richard, make no mistake about it. $10 grand is an OVERBID hoping anyone would sell a 7.5 at that price. It is not worth $10 grand. Anyone that pays that is purely speculating a price increase or just LOVES Green Lantern. And I do. pm responded to I think what Rick is saying is his 7.5 is about to change hands...or should I say my 7.5 ?

  13. Jus....jus......JUST GORGEOUS !! (Probably the best all round copy). Has superior PQ...not have the cream pages that it always has. . I think the 9.0 with OW pages and perfect centering is the best all round copy, but Rick's copy is definitely a gorgeous one as well. Yes, much better than the other 9.0 copy that was sold on Heritage before that. And went for a cheaper price to boot, if I recall correctly. I say let's have a bidding war on Rick's 7.5 !!! I open with $10 grand....Anybody wanna top that ?

But I prefer Rick's PQ...

  16. To: showcase22gr1959, Check your Messages (I sent you a PM last night). As a newbie, do you know how to do that?
  17. Rick, is it my work PC or is there a scan attached...?
  18. Son of a gun !! A WP'er DOES exist !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I gotta meet this guy...)
  19. Doesn't exist. Here is one that is nice as they come...ain't mine !! http://www.comicspriceguide.com/blog/post/2008/08/21/Showcase-22-CGC-60-Clears-3K.aspx
  20. Tim & aman, I agree on the 9.0. It is the highest graded. Unless it sold recently, I believe it went for $20k and some change awhile back. thanx. 20K isnt so bad, especially if it stays top copy and no 9.4 or even 9.2 appears. Its a super tough HG book, but if I were a betting man, I say there IS a copy out there waiting in a mylar. We've seen nearly every other comic show up, why not Showcase 22? Yes, you'd think there's one out there somewhere. But definitely rare in HG: 9.0 2 8.5 2 8.0 3 John is correct. There are 2 9.0s out there. Aman, I've been searching since the 70s for this book. Many of the older collectors have given up (or died). Can't explain the rarity. Ever notice that most copies are C/OW in page color? No white pager out there. Here's the closest...M Wilson sold it on ebay (see link below). I f****d up and bid too low. Look close at that book. Bright colors, very glossy, and probably the BEST PQ out there. The back cover is pure WHITE. Showcase 22? Too many questions and too few answers. http://www.comicspriceguide.com/blog/post/2008/08/21/Showcase-22-CGC-60-Clears-3K.aspx

  22. You ARE the 8th floor with that book !!!!!!
  23. If you can't work a deal, I will gladly take it. If it has nice pages, ...he can name his price.
  24. That is a sweet copy of SC #22. Looking at the damage on the front and back cover (looks like there is a chip out of the tip of the top left corner on the back), I would put it in the 6.0 range provided there are no other spots/stains (there is one in the L in "Lantern"). I'm confused. If you're looking at the same #22 that I'm looking at, it's > 6.0 !!!
