What Have You Done to Acheive Your Grail?

91 posts in this topic

well, i haven't started yet, but what i'm GOING to do is buy a grail from high grade comics, since they do 1 year time payments. now to decide which grail (and wait until they have it).

1 year ? Wow I didnt know Bob would do that. Thats a long, long time. Just dont ask him for those terms on a $500 dollar book.

Invested....perhaps crazily....in other comics, in the hopes that those other comics will pull a "Silver Age Marvel Explosion of the 1990's" of their own and end up being worth 10 to 1000 times what they were worth only 10-20 years prior, at which point I will trade for it, in the hopes that, in the intervening years, it's value did not "inflate" as rapidly as the other books.

At least, that's the theory. I have no hope that that will actually happen.

Of course, with the money I've spent on comics in the last 10 years, I could have bought a solid Fine+ copy, but then I wouldn't have boxes and boxes.....and boxes.....phew.....these things are heavy.....of these other nifty comics.

Heh...

17 years ago I traded a mid-grade Gretzky OPC rookie card that I got for free in a box of old cards from my aunt and a some early 90`s Jim Abbott Upper Deck error card for a very solid g/vg X-Men #1 (I am FAR from a condition freak).

Deal of the century!

I just didn't trust the mail with this one...

I'm still saving for the next grail (ASM1)

one day I hope to find a copy with great visual appeal

in a CGC 6.5 range.

And I'll probably drive to get this one too.

Nailed my wife...

Wow, I've heard that a few times around here.

She must know where there are some great deals on grail books.

I'd nail her if she can find me a high grade Silver Streak 6 :wishluck:

Wrote a check.

Always the pragmatist, eh Mr. Evans?

Seemed like the best thing to do.

It was a big check.
