Top 5 Collectors in the Country????

113 posts in this topic

The Dentist lives in Virginia. He and Geppi probably have the top 2 collections.

What about Ian Levine and Kristine ____? Both have full runs of DC books. They'd have to be right up there as well.

Ian's only rates on completenist (is that a word?). And I really wouldn't include it in this particular conversation.

Christine is meant to have a considerable portion of the DC Mile High's, is she not. So i think that definitely gives a top 3, if not a top 2 rating.

Doug's SA Marvel collecion would seriously pale in comparison for starters.

Just don't stalk him ,...per Watson............ :roflmao:

Sure, but like I said he is a low-key guy so its not my place to give out his info like that. If he wants to do it then thats a different story.

I think for GA:

Jon Berk

Dave Anderson

Steve Geppi

John Verzyl

Christine the Pepsi gal....

those are the 5 that come to my mind, but there are lots of private collectors and lots of others that have great collections based on varying criteria, like

Mr. Bedrock

Bangzoom

Eric Roberts

Ian Levine

Centaurman

Bullet123 ( Batman and 4color!)

and the list could go on and on

You also have to consider the Japanese father/son combo that bought Gary Carter's collection.

There are a LOT of old GA collections like that, of which none of us are aware. Just look at BangZoom's stuff. Before he posted here, nobody had even heard of it. Now it's being mentioned with Geppi, Anderson, etc.

so, dave anderson is really a dentist?

i always wondered if that was true since he's got such an expensive collection. i don't know how much the average dentist makes salary wise, but i never thought it would be six figures.

to answer your question, yes, and neither my current dentist, nor my last two showed any signs of riches. obviously, i don't follow them home.

Tim, after visiting HK, I think everyone (minus the taxi driver's) do quite alright there.

I'm still realing from the fact that I did make a small trip out to where you lived with my friend, and on the way passed the only Maybach dealership I've ever seen. ...in London it's mere Farrari, and Lamborghini dealerships only doh!

I'd be surprised if there were many dentists who own their own practices who don't make $100K+

Glad to hear that. :baiting:

There`s kind of a stereotype of dentists that they tend to have more money than brains. It seems like every time someone puts together some harebrained investment scheme, it`s a bunch of well-off dentists who turn out to be the suckers who put in the funds.

A atypical dentist may make over $100K, but it also puts them in 50% bracket. So some make six while others don't.
