Considering one of our esteemed forumites just completed a successful career in the US Army, I'm curious how many of you out there have served or are currently serving in the military? Anyhow, thought this might make for another means of getting to know your neighbor!

P.S. Feel free to include your MOS (the job you performed while in the service)

Next year will mark the quarter-century anniversary of my honorable discharge from the Army.

I was an 05C, Radio Teletype operator, stationed in Nuremberg for the duration of my stint.

My two younger brothers followed in my footsteps, dropping out of high school and joining the Army to get our mess together and reading comics along the way of course.

My youngest brother was in Berlin when the wall came, which was pretty exciting at the time. We've had good and bad associated with our military service but we all reflect on it fondly when we think back on it.

I'm glad to have been of service.

E-1 to E3 to Cadet (7 years) 88k Watercraft Operator

currently O3 43A Pencil Pusher (going on another 7 years)

Trooper, you know the funny thing is that the time an ROTC student spends as a cadet is equal to about 5 years in the ARNG, yet it means jack + squat when you go to your first duty station. Now, if someone had that amount of time in the ARNG before arriving to their first duty station, they'd enjoy a little more respect for being prior service. Talk about a :censored:

Then again, we weren't at war when we were cadets, so the meaning of 5 years in the ARNG has changed somewhat since our time ;)
