Marvel Inventory Box stolen at NY show

72 posts in this topic

I should probably wait to list a full list but just quick note to put this out to the comic community.

My high grade Marvel Box M11 was stolen 15 minutes prior to the shows closing. Title range goes from Transformers #4 - 25, Uncanny Tales, Vault of Evil, Warlock, Werewolf by Night, Where Creatures Roam, Where Monsters Dwell, X-Men #10 - 59. My books are all noted with circular labels, some with grades and prices, some are just priced.

Approximately 200-250 books, grades range but mostly high grade.

I will be putting together as complete a list as possible. I do have scans of some of the issues from this box and will provide the links when I complete the list.

Please keep an eye out for Ebay listings or if any of your Local comic shops seem to be offered this particular run of books.

4/22/08 update - Below is the final list of what X-Men issues are missing. I am still finalizing the other titles/issues that are missing.

Bob, I am very sorry to hear this. I hope you were insured - this is just terrible. I know you had a similarly bad experience at Heroes a few years ago. It is a real shame that certain comics "fans" do this to anyone, but in particular to a reputable person such as yourself.

Bob, Louise as is a good a watch dog as any that you will find. I personally will make sure that she guards your comics in Chicago.

So sorry to hear this. Positive energy makes things happen (ie. Karma always makes it's rounds). Hoping for the best.

Very sorry to hear. I saw a guy walk off with a dvd today... just slipped it behind a comic or magazine he was carrying and casually disappeared into the crowd. For what it's worth, he was a heavy guy, looked around 30, about 5'10" with short light brown hair. He had a white tee shirt on... might have been wearing shorts though not 100% sure on that. The dvd seller's booth was pretty crowded and he was occupied with a customer at the time. Just amazing how casually and quickly the guy did it. Obviously can't say if this guy had anything to do with your theft, but thought I'd let you know in case it rings a bell.

Roy, I will second that. Lou is not only prettier then you, she is also much wiser.

Explain again how she puts up with you, you lucky battard

:hi:

And on topic..

Bob, really sorry to hear of your loss. :( I hope the losers that took your goods choke on the toxic gas security device that you plant inside every long box.

I have contacted Papertowel Man,... he is on the case.

Just contact the building where the show took place and ask to see their security camera footage. These days every minute of our lives is taped. You will probably see the guy as he is taking them.

If not, check the taped footage at the exit, because he obviously walked out with them. Look for the guy carrying a large box.

Once you identify the guy, turn it over to the police, and post his picture online along with a reward.

As I've gotten older and seen mre of the darker side of life I've come to be a much bigger proponent for Big Brother ...especially video footage of public places. If you're not doing anything wrong you shouldn't have to worry.I'm sorry it happened to you Bob.I still remember the first order that I made with you...a 9.0 TOS 50.I had never ordered from you before and you chatted on the phone at your expense for an hour.I don't want to see anyone ripped but why is it always the COOL ones.GOD BLESS...

Really sad to hear. As a former victim of a trade show (I had a few thousand dollars worth of equipment stolen from me at E3), I know exactly how you feel. Hopefully you'll get lucky and someone will catch the perp - or better yet, your insurance will cover you. Do not use the in-house security to file a report. Make sure you get a real police report. Insurance companies will try to use any excuse not to pay you.
