Have tons of drek - donate where/how?

OK, I have thousands of cheap comics. If I were interested in donating them, where would be the best place? Thoughts? Advice?

Depending on the titles, couldn't you donate to a children's hospital, local library or goodwill store?

Yes, good ideas. I was curious if someone had a better way of handling it. I am thinking selling to a comic store for store credit.

I like to give out comics at halloween. Some kids get pretty excited and I think of it as promoting the hobby.

If you want to throw together a long box of stuff that would be appropriate for a boy and girl both about 10 years old I'll see that they get into the hands of two kids who don't have much. I'd pay for the shipping.

don`t they charge for the shipping of the comics to them?

A local comic shop in Hamilton, Ontario gave/gives donations of books to local children's hospitals/schools all the time. It was really well received by the city and eventually the newspaper got a hold of the story.

Contact innocuous and telerites here on the boards. Innocuous distributes comics to kids at his school and telerites distributes comics to kids at local hospitals.

yeah and you got to think. would you want children reading some of this 90`s drek? these aren`t your archie,gold keys and harveys we are talking about. you know give the kids at the hospitals or orphanage some richie rich to read. this is violent early to mid 90`s image, marvel and independent drek. I am sure the kids will really understand this drek. some comics do deserve the garbage can!.

So, even if we all give away 90's drek to kids in hospitals, etc...that's a good thing. One thing came to mind, the HG 90's drek will be few and far between, right?

That's the great thing about the internet and chat boards. There's always someone out there giving positive reinforcement when someone tries to do something good.

You can also give them to your mailman. I gave my mailman some spidey comics and baseball cards and he hands them out to the kids on his route.

A couple of years ago, I donated six long boxes or so to the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters group. They used them in their after school program for art projects. I just had to make sure there were no super violent comics, so I pulled all of the Punishers. They were very appreciative.

I don`t know about you but I wouldn`t want my children reading that 90`s drek.like I said. it isn`t Spider-man were talking about.
