I wonder what all the guffawing is about.

Some marvelously mangled metaphoric Bush-ism, no doubt.

Seriously, it had to be some sort of comic book joke.

Lee: "Thank-you, Mr. President."

Bush: "Comic books. Sheesh. Who'd've thunk it. I, actually, used to read Richie Rich. Did you write that?"

Lee: "?!"

Both: "Haw-haw-haw-haw-haw"

Or maybe . . .

Bush: "I have super-powers, too, y'know."

Lee: "Really, Mr. President? What are they?"

Bush: "I can (insert punchline not involving politics.)"

(Cloud the minds of my fellow Americans. Like The Shadow.)

(I got elected President. Not only once, but twice.

Could Captain America do that? I don't think so.")

step one- write comic books.

step two-become famous.

step three- stay alive a really, really long time and take on the airs of an unassuming grandfather.

step four- get accolades while still alive.

step five- get close to "the button".

step six- take over the world, Marvel style.

Excelsior, Stan!

That has been the progression. The novelty has worn off on seeing him in every movie.

I say it in fun. I'm a huge Marvel zombie, and that affection certainly extends to Stan, the Man.

I get the Kirby beef. I get that he made mistakes editorially and artistically, but I do have great admiration for Stan Lee. :)

I say put him in every movie, not just Marvel ones. :cloud9:

I was exaggerating, but it has been a long time. :foryou:

doh! What am I doing posting about Stan Lee's toup; I almost sound like a fanboy.

Not all rugs were in good taste...

And pictures of Stan without any "help" aren't easy to find

If I remember correctly, there's also one photo of "balding Stan" in one of the Gerber Photo-Journals, but I don't have it nearby.
