Is this a production defect.

I posted this in the PGM forum, but it may get a better response here.

Basically, is the ink smudge in the 'S' a production flaw.

Strange Tales #91.

 

This is a close up of the 'S' in Strange.

Is that an 'ink smear' caused during printing?

Yes, it looks like a printing defect to me.

Would love to slab this, but postage costs/insurance costs and the exchange rate makes it so difficult to justify the expense.
