In the "lost" thread someone asked how does one go about submitting books for this event?

Depends...

If you are NOT going to the NYCC contact one of the Witnesses who are accepting submissions from the public and arrange to send them the books in advance. They will take them to the show, get them signed and then submit them to CGC on your behalf. They may charge you additional fees above the standard SS fee to cover their additional costs.

If you ARE going to the NYCC you can:

- still give your books to a Witness and they will do everything as above

- you can go directly to the CGC booth and submit your books for Signature Series there OR you can arrange for someone from CGC to accompany you over to a guest's table to obtain the autograph. The cost is the same either way.

In all cases, limitations imposed by the guests may prevent all submissions from being completed. Witnesses will indicate when they have "cut off" submissions for specific creators. CGC will indicate this at the booth.

There may also be some guests that our Witnesses have arranged "private time" with. The Witnesses will announce here if they have any such deals in place and if you are interested they will notify you of any additional costs.

Witnesses will indicate whether they will accept sketch requests or not. CGC does not accept sketch requests at the booth. HOWEVER, if you are at the show and make arrangements with an artist to do a sketch on the book, CGC will accompany you to the guest for it to be picked up and watch the artist endorse the sketch and it will be accepted as Signature Series.

Needless to say I am geeking out preparing all the books I am going to get done at this show.

Yeah...that's one of my fun projects for the day to help break up the monotony of all the less-than-fun projects my darling wife has on deck for me ;)

Does Neal Adams attend a lot of shows? If not, I might have to get in touch with one of the Witness' who still has an opening...

And what about Basil Gogos? Attends a lot of shows? Or better to get it done now?

Generally Adam is at the NYCC, San Diego in July and the Big Apple show in November.

Not sure about Gogos, but I've only seen him at NY shows and once in Toronto.

Neal Adams basically attends all the big shows in New York, so if you've got something for him to sign, there doesn't seem to be any point in waiting. On the other hand, if you want to get Neal Adams to sign something but don't have anything right now, you're probably safe in being patient to find just the right book as opposed to scrambling just so you'll have something for the show.

Well, it helps when some of the bigger talent already lives in the area and they got the buy in of the 2 biggest comic companies from the beginning of their con adventures 4 years ago. :)

But yes, they have admirably and quickly built a VERY impressive convention after only a few short years. NYCC is basically the 2nd biggest show in the US after San Diego. I just hope they get the rest of their logistical snafus ironed out so we can focus on what we came to do... Oh, and I hope they move it back to April in a year or two so I don't have to worry about snow getting in between my comics. :)

A question for those that attempt to aquire sketches from the artist.

What the success rate of getting artist to sketch at NYCC compared to say the national or the Baltimore con?

I guess my question is based on the amount of people that attend.

I've been to the National and Baltimore, but never the NYCC.
