Daytona Beach Comic Con Report w/video

19 posts in this topic

This is a small twice-a-year show that I am never prepared for. I always resolve to

have my act together for the next one and the next thing I know it is the Saturday

night before and I am feverishly trying to throw together some drek to take with

me. It is located in a nice Hotel conference room right on the beach with

free admission and free parking. The emphasis is on comics and toys so there

wasn't any costumed characters flying around.

I was surprised by how much Golden Age was in the room. Between Greg White,

Paul Dyroff, Tim Gordon, Joe Lovece (Hoohah) the walls were plastered with mostly

older stuff. :cloud9: I am not sure how they did with the high-end stuff, but the

dollar box stuff was flying out the door. I met Glenn (gcstomp) and he reported

good sales. Tom Raupp and several other local dealers were there also.

Dick Giordano couldn't make it, but Alex Saviuk told some great stories

about the early years of collecting comic art. I don't normally seek out sketches,

but after the initial rush, he was available so I scored this for the wife.

So it wasn't a huge event, but it was a nice afternoon looking at funny books,

listening to stories and getting rid of some duplicates. Low booth fees also

helped. lol Here is some raw footage of the show. Enjoy! (thumbs u

I can't past the intro song.

:headbang:

Very good choice. It suits the cruise in. Man I've traveled that stretch of I 95 so many times through the years as a Northerner and your video just sends me right back.

Thanks!

Dang I live in Orlando, but its finals week for us Uni students, so wasn't a good weekend. Possibly next year; did KingOfRulers make it?

I want a spidey sketch that says "Everybody gets one"! lol

The King didn't make it. The CFP was conspicuously absent. Was there

a meeting and I didn't get the memo? Maybe I need to work on the secret handshake. hm

No meetings, just life. Life got in the way this weekend for me.

I was going to skip out on studying for finals, but I decided against it at the last minute. I would like to have been there... :tonofbricks:
