Pre-Robin Tecs + Tec 38 and 39

142 posts in this topic

and second Rick, how would you list Tecs 27 to 38 by demand ?

My view on demand for 27-37 is:

#27

#31

#29

#35

#33

#28

#36

#37

#30

#32

#34

#38 is an interesting comic to place. There are those who don't like Robin and would place him att the bottom of the list. I would probably fit in just below #33.

George, which Pre-Rob Non-Bat books do you think are most desirable? We know the 28 is the toughest, but is it the most sought after? My interest of rank based on covers alone would be:

28,32,30,34

Although, the Bat splash to #30 is pretty cool..

Didn't all those copies belong to Primetime ???:roflmao:

Does he still go by "Primetime"...... I heard he recently changed his name to Crimetime.....or Slimetime , REMEMBER...This individual is armed and dangerous, in addition he rarely uses deodorant..... :roflmao:

who is this "nut?" (shrug)

At one time I owned a Detective #2 , #4 , #7 , #8, #11 , #13 , #14 , #17, #18 #19, #20 , #22 , #28 , #29 ( poor man's #27) , #30 , #36 , #37 , #40 , #42 and about 6 other copies above these numbers .

I agree with Bill P. on his ranking by difficulty...right down the line .

Things may have changed as I owned these about 8 to 10 years ago.

here are my thoughts and perspectives on pre robin tecs:

27- I have owned 4...really the most desirable, but naturally, the most cost restrictive

28-I only ever owned the 1

29-I have owned 5

30-I have owned 3

31-I have owned 8 or 9 I believe

32-only owned 2

33-only owned the 1 cgc 4.5

34-only owned 2

35-I have owned 5 diff copies

36-only owned 2

37-only owned 2

demand (this factors in ability to actually buy, too)

31 highest

27 (only 2nd because most can't afford one, so affect "real" demand)

29

35

36

33

37

28

30

32

34 lowest (but "lowest" is relative)

Great insight as usual Gator (thumbs u But you really think 35 is tougher than 29 and 31? Census shows a small number of 35s and 29s, but I've always thought 29 the toughest and 31/35 about equal...And 37 second behind 28 on the scarcity level? I've seen more 37s than 29s for sure hm

scarcity is a factor of not how many copies exist or are graded, but how many copies come to market...

there have been far more 29's available in the past 4 years for sale than 35 or 37...as mentioned, I have owned the same # of 29's and 35's, but passed on or lost out on at least 8 other copies of 29, and only have seen 3 other 35's I was interested in ...

37, I have seen maybe 6 copies total (diff) over the past 4 years, so that puts it "considerably" scarcer (relatively speaking) in my analysis

and while today, 31 seems "impossible" to find, over the past 4+ years, I have owned 9 diff copies and probably passed on or lost out on 10 others...so, quite "common" comparatively speaking, even though it appears all those copies have been sucked into collections and we might see the scarcity ratio change dramitcally over the next few years...

Great points Rick...I've always that thought "scarcity" meant the total available copies thought to be existed. And, of course, CGC census reports, private sales, and open market reports help us to "estimate" total available copies...I wonder what basis OPG is making when they denote books as "scarce" in the guide. At one point, they approx the total # of copies known to exist for big GA Keys, but that has gone away..I think 20-200 copies is a "safe" estimate for most comics that still exist from '38-'45

37 higher than 36 in scarcity Rick? Wow, maybe its just me but I have seen 3 different 37s within a year available, and only 1 or 2 36s. But they must be close at least right? And what the heck happened that the 28 is on top of the list?

Can we all at least agree that the 34 is the least desireable between issues 27 to 38? I am surprised that George's 30 hant sold yet, someone grab that already....
