There are lots of instances where people reference their "personal" do not buy or sell lists. And likewise lots of instances where entrance or exit from the PL either modifies, or doesn't modify, those personal lists. I view it as gentle reminder that PL removal is not necessarily a "stamp of approval."

Exactly.

A guy might have done his time and paid restitution for embezzlement but that doesn't mean everyone's rushing to have him manage their finances.

Agreed. I have dealt with people that have gotten off the PL before with great results. Of course, that is usually for someone that made a one time mistake, owned up to it and immediately fixed it with the one they wronged. For me, it is about what they did to get on there (mistake, scam or straight criminal), and their attitude once they found out. Attitude goes a long way and may be the reason for a few of the past posts.

Precisely. No reason to keep a grudge towards that guy for me, as it seems the experience helped him to see he wasn’t behaving in such a great way. I entirely agree with Ben.

For me, I 100% agree that people can have their own "do not do biz with" list. What I do not like is announcing specific people the way this was. We are free to make up our own minds on who to sell/buy from. I like to think we are overall mature enough and intelligent enough to do so without public announcements.

How many people do we see saying "No HOSers. Probies or people on my personal list"? Several. I have never seen some say "No HOSers, Probies or Boardie1, Boardie7, Boardie22, Boardie37 and Boardie94."

I would rather see someone specifically address the person in question, publicly, and dig deeper into their own mindset, with maybe a touch of education, especially for an obvious newbie.

For all we know the person in question may, over time, turn out to be a fine boardie. But early on public damnation like this serves no purpose I can see except to drive someone away. Which is why I asked the question in the first place.

That sure would make some sales threads interesting though wouldn't it?

There are two boardies who I have told privately that I will not do business with them. I believe that it should be handled in a behind the scenes manner. However, if either of those boardies ever decided to claim something in a thread of mine without my wishes I would then call public attention upon the fact that they were previously warned to stay away privately.

The one that was the most annoying to me was the boardie that claimed a bunch of things "as per PM" when no deal was struck. I woke up to find he made a deal in that he took everything in the thread as per PM. In his PM he said he would take everything in remaining at half off despite the fact that no such deal was offered and that was the first time he had PM'd me.

THAT will get you on my instant ban list 4Eva

Stop blowing up my spot.

Actually the boardie that did it somewhat still active. It was a jerk move and I stand by that it was a jerk move.

I told him that I would not be selling him anything and that the way he posted a :takeit: was not cool as it turns away potential buyers into thinking that books they would have taken are claimed.

I hate to do this after so many positive buying transactions with other board members. I have to bring up my transaction with cheta42.

We agreed on $41.16 for Amazing Spider-man 298 in nm from this thread in Copper. A good deal if the book is in the grade mentioned.

ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8915576&fpart=1

I sent money through Paypal and received the book in today's mail. The book was packaged in bag and board and sandwiched in cardboard (pampers cardboard). It was shipped international in a padded mailer. I looked at the book closely and saw the back cover was full of creases (12 that I counted that break color) on that black back cover ASM 298 has. I contacted Alex thinking maybe he did not check the back cover before selling the book. Maybe its an honest mistake.

I ask for shipping to be covered back to him since clearly his item was not as listed. Instead I get accused of buyers remorse. What? over $40? Come on...

Do you really think I have the time to deal with this?

When I said I would escalate to the boards and through Paypal I got an instant refund. If nothing else I want inform the boards the grading was bad and that I was falsely accused.

Your book was refunded before you uttered any threats.

This is not a good start for you in my eyes on the boards.

Here are the stipulations in my sales thread

Returns accepted if item is not as described.

I will pay shipping if it is my fault.

Buyer pays shipping if they have sour grapes about the purchase.

Please read the last line.

There were pictures posted on the sales thread and I accepted your lower offer as a nice gesture to a new boardie.

You are off to a great start.

Good luck in the future.

Alex

I did not offer a threat and I am not new to the boards (officially since 2012). Its not my fault if you cannot grade. If you were so sure of your grade why did you refund so quickly?

I didn't expect a refund until I sent the book back. Why would you do that?

Are you making a nomination or not? If not, this should be moved elsewhere. If you are, what precisely are you asking for at this point?
