OT-Must see Horror Movies

148 posts in this topic

The last two good horror movies I seen because they not only were scary but had good plots.

Hostel and Wolf Creek were great because they seem possible.

supposedly both based on true stories?

I know Wolf Creek is I saw a special on that but I'm not sure about Hostel.

Wolf Creek had a great start, but the film was not as good as I had hoped, although I'd watch it again. Hostel was ruined for me with the eye scene, sorry, but she would have died of shock within 30 seconds. When something happens like this in a movie where it's supposed to be somewhat believable, I can't watch it, just kills it for me.

I can't believe one of the scariest movies of all time (for a parent), Pet Semetary hasn't been mentioned. Since I've had kids I cannot watch that film.

I will admit that Pet Semetary does have some creepy moments...and the death of the son is beyond traumatizing...but hearing him in his little voice say "I want to play with youuuuuuuuu" just cracks me the hell up.

Not really a fan of the horror genre especially slasher films, but The Shining is a must see. I still get unnerved watching it. Them (not really a horror movie) is 50's sci-fi FUN!

The original Thing (from another world) is atmospheric, creepy, and suspenseful as hell. Great stuff.

The Stand has some good horror elements in it.

I ended up liking the movies because I cared about the characters, so much different then your average Halloween or Jason movie were victim is just there to get killed. I will check out Pet Semetary,I have never seen it.

I was actually enjoying " HIGH TENSION", until i figured out what was happening. Then it completely fell apart for me.

That twist was one big let down. Let me tell you.

You guys want scary, you've got to go back farther to the 70s-80s.

Sentinel, exorcist, Omen, NIght of the living dead 1, Amytyville 1 &2 Texas Chainsaw,...

those kind of shows were scary.

Yeah Paranormal Activity was petty good it was just a little dissapointing for me since I saw the trailer that took some of the suspnese away but the powder footprint scene and the girl getting dragged down the hallway were the two scenes that really got to me.

The dragging was pretty OMGWTF! moment for me.

Also any portions where someone appeared to be sleepwalking was creepy since I sleepwalk.

Fright Night was awesome.....I still have that one on VHS somewhere.

Lets go old school for a couple more....

Carnival of Souls (1962)

Vampyr (1932)

I never saw Vampyr but Carnival was cool. What about Freaks?
