Changes to Probation List and Hall Of SHame List

What a disgusting creep! If he delivered that message via PM, then he should be banned.
Right - I think that's what many have been arguing - the action is up to the mods - strike/bans, not the boards - probation list.

So, prejudiced against the MILF-rapers too? mschmidt - I am warming up to you in a non threatening way. Very scary.

Just don't call him "Miss Schmidt". That was Muscleshark's mistake. :D

Absolutely.

Everyone knows he prefers to be called "Ms. Schmidt."

Lettuce consider the legal definition of "obscenity":

Does anally violating my 72-YO mother fit the bill? I was promised that by Muscleshark. Thankfully, my mom's rectum is intact, but still....

Man, Muscleshark/Frankenstein....we have some class acts on this forum. How do people get along in society behaving like they do?

They don't. They spend all their time in the basement.

Honestly I am in favor of both the Probation List and the Hall of Shame and whatever other list we may come up with.

And I understand the Mods inability to act in areas they cannot. This is a CGC (private company) message board and some things may be legally construed as CGC (which is probably why, for example, we won't see the Mods making custom titles for list people that say things like "On Probation List" or "On HOS". I understand that and agree with it.

Hey Divad. Why does the HOS list not include any of the members know ebay seller ids . Would that not help out anyone on the boards who look for books on ebay. Or is it because they can change user ids faster than they can change clothes?

This is not eBay . . . This is OUR neighborhood :sumo:

Define "OUR" dammit!

Yep, it does. Wish you had brought that up during the whole fiasco. You brought it up now, after the fact. Should have been brought up before the fact.

Really not trying to be a jerk. But sitting at the screen and following the threads? If more is behind the scenes lettuce know it.

Coolio! Thanks! (thumbs u

::crapola - now what do I do at 1? Maybe 12 was better? Why don;t they get an Open File Agent so the boards can be backed up whilst active?)

How about a third tier such as "Unprofessional Conduct", Frankie could be placed in there?

Certainly not against such a thing and have agreed to that previously. I do think the rules need to be expanded and clarified, like ghee (look it up if you need to). Again, I offer assist.

I agree, after a while the community gets bigger and perhaps things need to be clarified. I also like the KISS system.

Why not just add to the 30 day non completion probation part, "OR if one party has unilaterally stated he/she will not be completing the transaction."

For the Hall of Shame, I'd suggest grandfathering in everyone that was "elected" before Frank, and clarify the rules after.

Something easy, like....The Following members have committed egregious acts that were not in the community's best interests and have been elected into the hall of shame by a community vote.

You write much better than I do, Michael (and David) but I think that might be the direction we need to explore.

I also see from reading the posts that some people need specifics...so perhaps we need something with a minimum number of votes, so it's not so arbitrary. I have no clue how many people actually post in a week, but I keep seeing polls with about 80 votes, so perhaps 75? I'm sure someone better with numbers than I am, would have a suggestion. It should not be an easy number to reach and there should be a time period for the vote.

I'd also suggest that David start the polls, so we don't have a zillion people who are upset about a hangnail kvetching every five minutes;)

He bought a CGC 8.5 cracked out of the case tried to sell it as a 9.2. That is pretty fraudulent in my book. But hey, anyone that wants to support him, well they can go and buy books off of Robo on Ebay as well.

Get rid of the Scammers.

Bruce

CGC is not the be all and end all of grading. In and of itself, I don't think that's deceptive. And I'd suggest to you that many major dealers engage in this practice, doesn't make it "right" or a justification, but I hardly think that is on the same level as outright fraud.

The grade CGC gives is an opinion, so if a seller sells it at a higher grade cracked out, I wouldn't call it fraud.

:applause: Thank you for making those statements

And similarly:

The following Board Members are currently on "Probation" for failure to complete

a Marketplace Forum transaction in good faith after one month's time:

We kept it simple for a reason.

See? Now THAT makes sense, is specific and works.

But thw way HOS is setup is far from simple and specific. Again, I offer my assist.

While I agree with the gist of where you're going with this, you seem to want to quantify HoS requirements down to a very black and white thing. It can't be that. There are going to be shades of grey. Dr Frank is not in the same category as Capfreek but that still doesn't mean that he can't be in the HoS.

Both Ted Williams and Jim Rice are in the MLB Hall of Fame but does anyone think that Jim Rice is anywhere near the baseball player that Teddy was?

I'm not against the attempt to make it more specific but you're still going to get folks complaining. Can't please everybody

That's why my other idea was to just have Cal start a thread and make THE LIST...so much easier;)

This is what it's always been:

:bump: 5/3/10 PROBATION LIST UPDATE :bump:

THE HALL OF SHAME

The following Board Members have been elected by the community to the

Probation List's "Hall of Shame" for gross misconduct as members in the

Marketplace Forum:

Define "Gross Misconduct".

Lettuce consider the legal definition of "obscenity":

For something to be "obscene" it must be shown that the average person, applying contemporary community standards and viewing the material as a whole, would find (1) that the work appeals predominantly to "prurient" interest; (2) that it depicts or describes sexual conduct in a patently offensive way; and (3) that it lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value.

So we have a legal definition that is hinged on:

"contemporary community standards"

"prurient"

"patently offensive" (my emphasis on "patently"

"lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value" (my emphasis on "serious")

.Many of the posts on these boards would fall under the legal definition of "obscene". But I see no action taken.

The term "gross misconduct" seems equally "loose" - that is, it actually has no definition. Or has it been defined and I missed it?

We need MUCH better than this for the lists.

Again, I will be happy to devote time and effort to creating a better criteria than we have. But what we have now is to my view, falling apart.

Good analogy, POV. I also concur with Justice Potter Stewart who said about pornography that it was hard to define, "but I know it when i see it." Same goes for me and the HOS. And Muscleshark / DR_F are HOS worthy.
