It is very interesting to see the match-up between 48 (91 copies) and 49 (10 copies) that is a HUGE spread, much bigger than I would have expected. 893whatthe.gif

Maybe others on the board were right and its time we saw a better price equalisation in Overstreet. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

At first, you would think that the scarcity of issues in the low 100s is because of low submittal rate, but 24 copies of 108 raises an eyebrow.

But that is the last one with Kirby's hand in it...

Thanks,

Just my personal experience, but # 103 is tougher to find in true NM, while # 108 seems to be very plentiful compared to the issues immediately following and preceeding it (# 109 is another book you don't see offered in CGC 9.4 or better very often). I can only imagine # 108 was a Mile High 2 book (can anyone confirm this?) because it is pretty common.

Spider-Man Bias?

June 1966

FF 51: 4 copies 9.4 or higher, 9.4 = 450 points in CGC registry.

ASM 37: 12 copies in 9.4 or higher; 9.4 = 700 points in CGC registry.

GPA Average:

ASM 37 9.4 = $831 (3 copies)

FF 51 9.4 = (no sales, but you'd have to think it would be at least $831)

Actually, I could care less about registry points, I just think it is funny.

FF 7 is extremely hard to find in 9.4 or better. That and 6 could be the 2 toughest,

(after 3, which is murder to find even in 9.2, forget 9.4) followed by 18, 13 and 11. You never see these books for sale in even 9.2 or better.

If it wasn't for the Pacific Coast, there wouldn't be an 18 in 9.4 or better (same goes for 28). Once (if) the Curators get slabbed, the census (and perhaps perceived rarity in grade) will surely change!!!

In the 20's and over, 31 is tough, as is 34 & 37. The PC's are all 9.4s on these and there are no existing 9.6s.

Its pure, out and out discrimination. sumo.gif

If you want to see discrimination, check this out:

Fantastic Four 1 in 9.4 = 40,000 points

Fantastic Four 1 in 9.6 = 70,000 points

Amazing Fantasy 15 in 9.4 = 75,000 points

Amazing Fantasy 15 in 9.6 = 135,000 points

Amazing Spider-Man 1 in 9.4 = 92,000 points

Amazing Spider-Man 1 in 9.6 = 160,000 points

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SPIDER-MAN BIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a HG FF collector, I found this "random stat" very helpful. I'm always looking to divert time and funds toward books that I might not see again for a long, long time, and the CGC "scarcity index" - taken with a grain of salt - is helpful to me when presented in this fashion.

Now if I can only find an FF #17 and #18....I wonder what the #17 in 9.0 will go for on Ebay. confused.gif

As soon as the price on 49 starts rising to anywhere close to 48 prices, guess what? There will be about 91 9.4 or better copies in no time flat. It's not a scarce book, folks!
