They said Termiteville had been there since the beginning. Hard to imagine that it was never found by the Guv or Rick before this, especially with all the signs and radio broadcasts, someone in Woodbury would have brought it up that they've heard the broadcast or seen the signs.

Oh and the quick ending to Daryl's group was weak. :P

Daryl's group was a means to an end, as it pertains to a storytelling end that is.

They existed as a vehicle to set up a dichotomy between people who are simply "hard" and people are "good" but can be harder than the hardest when pushed.

They were included, exclusively, to allow for the transformation of Rick into something far more dangerous, capable, and confident than he's ever been before.

The episodes work so much better if you think of the concepts instead of "how many shots were fired?", or "when do they poop?" kinds of questions. The narrative is incredible powerful when you look for the forest instead of the trees.

For example. The way Rick killed Dan...the guy who was trying to rape Carl...he did with his knife to Dan what Dan was trying to do to Carl with his dong. Well put together show and storytelling.

This gave season 1 a nice run for best season, IMO.

I agree. I can't figure out why everyone didn't like this season. I appreciated the character development. (shrug)

Me too. Michonne went from being a character with no speaking parts, that many of my friends felt was useless, to one of their favorite characters. The same can be said for Hershel. His death was so much more hard to watch after the well-rounded development of his character this season.

So many people miss that looking for mindless zombie action.

You need to be made to care about characters in a sincere way. The more effective they are in creating that care the more effective the narrative when they place that character in danger or that character meets their end.

I thought this was a really solid episode, and a really great cliffhanger.

I thought they handled what I bolded above perfectly. That shot when Rick is talking at the end, and the camera moves around to all the characters is brilliant. I for one was thinking, damn, these people have been through hell and are tough as mess. I don't think Rick is exaggerating when he says they're messing with the wrong people. It, in fact, seemed to be the most logical aggressive thing that could have been said.

Yes! :sumo: They're essentially humanizing the character and making them "real". Other than just a face or a name, their is background behind the character. The more you learn about something or someone, the more you can't help but care about that character.

What if the characters were basically treated like the guy with glasses getting eaten by zombies last night? All action, no drama. Don't know who he is. Ho hum, we're just going to kill him of gruesomely. After awhile - :whatev: You need to be vested in characters for it to mean something when something awful happens. I think this season did a great job creating attachment to these characters that were only a face and name with no real "identity" before.

I wasn't a big fan of this season.

Sure, there was character development and the uncovering of some back story, but it was extremely frustrating when they would devote an entire episode to one small group of people. Realistically they could have compounded some of it, and merged a couple of episodes. There was so much filler in trying to pad an hour devoted to 2 or 3 people. I think the writers were probably stalling to some degree, to make sure the season ended where they wanted it to.

That being said, the last few episodes were great, and the season finale was phenomenal.

It's up to Carol and Kimbo Slice to save the group now.

This is why I love that we have both the show and the comic( and the two being different). The show gives some characters like Hershel and Maggie (pre-all out war Maggie anyways) stronger roles than they had in the comic to me. Hershel was an amazing character on the show and it was nice to see him giving advise and comforting Rick in the flashbacks. I still love season 3 and it will be hard to top it in my eyes but I was satisfied on how this season turned out.

I think they treated this season like Lost. :cloud9: For fellow Lost fans, you know that each episode focused on one character so you got to know a little bit about THAT character and not get distracted by other characters. If they did each episode focusing on multiple characters, you don't build as strong as a connection.

On a much more smaller lever for purposes of illustration - the Lizzie episode focused so much on Lizzie and her sister. It led to a much stronger shock than if it was just kind of thrown in there with several other side stories.

Believe me, in the beginning of the second half of the season, it felt so different from prior seasons when you wouldn't see all of the major characters every episode. But now looking back, I appreciate what they did by separating the stories.

Very good analogy Chris. But I already knew he was a beast when he stuck that machete in the prisoners head.

I thought they walked the perimeter of Terminus and watched for awhile before hoping the fence and entering. Then how did all those people pop up on the other side of the fence with rifles? I don't think Tyress, Carol and Judith have made it to Terminus yet and they maybe key players in getting them out of the boxcar/Terminus.

And also why didn't Daryl tell Rick that Beth was kidnapped?

I thought he did? ??? I thought he said she was taken?

I was wondering that too. Rick asked if she was dead and Daryl just said something like "she's just gone"

Yes he said that, she's gone.

Also when Rick and Co. where running around the complex, did anyone else hear "others" banging on the containers yelling help?
