Every time I heard all of his swearing in my head it was with an Irish accent. There are some great actors who could pull off the character when he is eventually introduced. I always read Negan as a Garth Ennis character, Kirkman always made him read like Butcher from The Boys. That always jarred for me. He just doesn't speak like an American, he speaks like what Kirkman thinks a psycho Garth Ennis character would sound like. I always found that very weird, as if he didn't belong in the environment that Walking Dead is set in. Throw most men into the same situation, where animal/survival instincts get the better of you because you haven't decompressed in a while, and his actions seem completely justified (albeit extreme).
