Brock and Board, Where are we now? An Update........

491 posts in this topic

Although I'm a noob of no consequence,

It's cool you apologized and faced the mob. Although it would have been cooler if you did it quicker and did not make lame excuses for what you did. It would have been better if you just owned up to it and not tried to justify it. A lot of it does look like this public apology came out because you were basically baked by the board. Even though you have apologized, there is still a lot of real questions about your TRUE character that only time will show if your apology and realization you were wrong really meant anything or not. None of us are perfect and we've all made mistakes and have moments we aren't proud of, so I'm happier you came around rather than continued to dodge this altogether.

I guess all any of us can really hope for is you've learned a real valuable lesson from all of this.

so this entire thread was to make a point. Wow

Yes, it was entirely to prove a point, to Brock.

It turns out I am a master manipulator and you all fell into my web of control. Sorry for luring you all in like that.

I thought this important to enough to share with the board. Who knows we may have actually helped Brock in a weird sort of way.

All kidding aside, I hope this thread DOES help Brock learn a valuable lesson: You are what your reputation is.

Putting a book on ebay with no reserve, or a low starting price, is a gamble. In this case he hoped for more & lost. Then he wanted to keep from losing. If he had gambled in a casino & lost, tough luck. That's the chance you take. Pay up.

To sell one's reputation for $60.00 is insane. It's like blowing your credit record after years of building it up. Now it's going to take him forever just to get back where he once was, if he ever can.

If I list a book on ebay with no reserve & start at .99 cent, the book will be sold to whatever the highest bid is, whether it achieves my expectations or not; it's sold. I have entered into a binding contract & must complete the sale. I also need to pack it securely, insure/delivery confirmation as needed and mail it promptly. That's what a person does to get 100% positive feedback & build a reputation as a stand-up seller.

As far as the people who dont understand why I did it over 40 dollars, I was super noob and hadnt even bought a Overstreet guide yet let alone known what GPA was. I had no idea what the book was worth and I saw it as my first big loss and made a poor choice. It didnt matter if it was 65 or 6500. I saw it as a big let down after watching the bids chase it up to 85 when I bought it, who knows.. I was probably shilled, but thats besides the point...I Made a bad decision..

Damage to Reputation > $40

Alright, we all made our points yesterday. Now that he's shown up, I don't see a point in continuing to beat him down over this, especially since nochips seems content to put this to rest.

He's a grown man; if he truly hasn't learned his lesson, life will eventually beat him down for it.

I'm not saying what you did was okay but in a weird way I understand what you are saying. You are not really a bad person, just someone who made a mistake

out of ignorance.

I'm more concerned now about those smashed ants on the scans. What happened there ?!?

Lying and breaking a contract isn't a simple mistake of ignorance. It is

a reflection of maturity and honesty.

Thanks.. Im sure there will be plenty of people that doubt my character or morals for a while, but all im asking for is a chance to prove it was a one time mistake that will never happen again. As for the on the scanner bed.. I have no idea what that was. Only showed up on that one book and it does look nasty. If it was a spider, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time when I closed the scanner bed flap..
