Yes-- the list tells us highest prices paid-- including all fees, taxes, premiums, etc.

Thanks.

The list includes BP, but I don't believe it currently reflects any sales tax.

Also, I would take out all of the "reserve not met" numbers. They don't belong on this list.

Adding in sales tax is too hard because not every buyer has to pay the sales tax and how is one to know who had to pay the sales tax and which state`s sales tax?

I agree. Just pointing out that the list tells us the price paid, including BP. It does not include anything else, unlike what was claimed earlier in this thread.

And to further clarify my post about the BP of this sale for anyone who didn't understand: I meant to demonstrate just how monstrous this sale was, that even the BP places in the top 10. Of course, the figures listed should include BP, otherwise.

What would you rather have, the Superman 14 cover or the DK 3 splash? Its a crazy world

The Infantino/Anderson Flash cover and the Kirby Thor/JIM pin up went for the exact same price, and the Dark Knight splash went for exactly 10x those. Interesting coincidence, and it begs the question:

What would you rather have in your personal collection?

1) 10 SA Flash covers by Infantino/Anderson

2) 10 SA Marvel Kirby pin up pages

3) The Dark Knight splash

Option 2.

The one thing that stands out if the very high price for the mad cover, I can see 1.5 for one of the best Ftriz paintings, dont like the one that sold for a million, but like thw WSF 29 cover. Mad cover does not fit it at over 203K

Probably already been said, but I would remove all "Reserve Not Met"s from the list. Those figures are meaningless as they could just have been bumped to one increment below the reserve by the auction house for all we know (a.k.a. "chandelier bidding", which is standard practice).

The $203K Mad #30 cover result surprised me, but I would have been just as surprised had it sold for your $55K estimate. While I have little doubt that Mad's enduring appeal is slowly waning, there are still enough Gen X and Baby Boomers around who appreciate the 1st Alfred E. Neuman cover that I thought it would be a high 5-figure piece at a minimum, and the risk was always going to be skewed to the upside if a couple of collectors really wanted such a unique and significant piece. (shrug)

It is public knowledge that a Carl Barks interior page would make a very solid 3rd place on this list, but it was a private sale and I can't share the exact amount.

that Spidey #50 should be page 8 (or page 10 for those who like to include ad pages in the count)

Updated.

I know, but that is why I don't include them in the ordered list, but just as a note. It also gives an idea of where the reserve was at.
