Anyone know "Genuinecomics" on Ebay?Possible scam?

56 posts in this topic

Hey Folks..

Does anyone know who this seller (genuinecomics) is,or ever do any business with?

They have an AF15 and FF1 on Ebay with Buy it/Best offer.

I sent offers, and requests for more pictures. They then tried to send me a Paypal "Money Request" to do the deal outside ebay for both books.

I insisted on more pictures, with both books together,ect...and refused the "Money request"...since then,my offers have expired, and they haven't sent any pictures.

Does the "writing" on the AF15 look like it's "photoshopped" in? Trying to mask a book. And it almost looks like the AF15 back picture is of a slabbed book?

They also say they sold another AF15,but the listing shows it never sold.

Something just doesn't add up....Right?

To me something doesn't look right with the scribble. It doesn't fit the rest of the photo as if it were put there on top of the image wit PS or something else. It looks like the writing has better detail than the comic scan which if they were together at the time the image was scanned would be the same. It can just be the amount of compression used too that is giving it that extra contrast. You can't tell. Ask for a large scan and look for telltale signs of image manipulation.

Caps lock makes things more truthful :sumo:

It made me a little dizzy too. Those 2 pics. Are they from that auction? How did the bubble text get on part of the back cover when it's complete on the front or was he just comparing two different comics?

Fake auction. I'm a total amateur compared to these guys and I can tell it's not the same book. The speech bubble and price bubble are visible on the back cover.

Not the same book. See how part of the front cover image is mis-wrapped and is visible on the back cover?

I agree. Could be a mix-up in jpgs but the back cover is obviously not the same book as the front cover. The 'writing' on the front cover looks too digital, too.

Ah, nevermind. I read the other threads. The story is obvious.

Do you get paid by the comma and the apostrophe? There's nothing quite like an insufficient grasp of the language to herald a scammer. Crawl back under your rock.

I WILL BE BACK TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT THE BOOKS SOLD FOR AT 6PM, THANKS..........

I'm in PA. Can I come and see that comic since it's right here in NJ?

I just thought of something. Wouldn't it be a benefit to everyone here if we networked comic viewing? Someone like me can take a ride into NJ if I had the time to check and make sure a comic was legit etc and if I ever wanted to buy something in CA and someone was right there they could do it for me. With enough people helping each other it could reduce risk to members on this board or am I assuming that people will be as concerned with each other as much as they are with themselves?

Yep, it's all there. The old thread even mentions his name change to genuinecomics (very apt title lol ).
