I don't have a scan of the my individual copy only this old group shot, but it's a low grade one. Most likely a VG-. My dad bought it for me at my first convention back in probably '83. It was my action 1 back then...

If I recall correctly it was about $65. I had my OSPG that looked like an Action 1, with Superman Wonderwoman and Batman on the cover, number 13 I believe, I just looked it up lol . Daredevil 1 NM I think was only worth about 500 maybe less at the time. But then again I think the action 1 was only worth like 10,000? I can't recall the exact number but it was a crazy amount to me back then.

 

Also bought VF copies of GL 78 and an 87 that both turned out to be signed by Adams on the first page, as they used to do before SS. I couldn't believe it at the time, I remember it like it was yesterday still. Those 3 books are the only 3 in my collection that I have never sold.

Thanks for sharing the story. I couldn't imagine my dad dropping that much on a comic for me lol . My mom though used to cart me around to used book stores and the one or two comic stores that were around. She did buy me an All-Select #10 which I still have. IIRC, it was $60 and would have been around the mid 70s.

Hey Mark - without you asking we would not have been privy to that story. Hope you are well and school is also following suit.

 

Jeff - so sorry man!! I was on my iPhone and when replying and instead of seeing telerites I thought it said tortoise who is Mark. Damn small screen!!

My apologies, hope you and the Fam are doing well and thanks for the compliment on my book!!

(Btw...a TMNT #1 9.8 might be one of those new avenues I'll be exploring now content with my DD run)

The last piece of my 9.4 ow/w or better DD 1-10 puzzle! Dreaming of this day for many, many moons!! Can't believe the day has finally came forth!!! :whee:

I'm definitely happily satiated upon my current "The Man Without Fear" collection status.

(Around seven or eight more books and I would have a 1-50 in a 9.4 ow/w or better puzzle completed)

 

Besides my Groo Pacific set and than my TOS/Avengers #16 run of Hawkeye & Black Widow.....DD 1-10 in 9.4 was third on my "to do list."

More focus can now given to some of my other beloved sets and runs I always wanted to compile. Thanks for letting me share! Such a great title and a lot of fun to collect through these years!!

 

Just a beautiful copy. Congrats on completing the set.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering If I had ever posted my copies here. What a wonderful recap Thanks dscott. I think on the 2nd copy I must have been playing with my scanner/editing settings. There is no way that the cover is that white.
