In the spirit of enjoyment and fun, this will be a free to play contest extended to all forumites. As many people as would like can enter the contest. The number of rounds will depend on the number of books. Right now, we are expecting 25. The majority of the books are from Nik's personal collection, with only three being donated to help give a better range of grades. Silver, Bronze, Copper and Modern Age books will be represented. As Nik didn't collect much Golden Age, no books from that era are included. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Plus,a booby prize will be given for last place. Last place is defined as the person who has participated in all the rounds and has the lowest score. You can not sign up, do nothing and win the booby prize. There will also be another prized announced along the way for

another ranking position.

The books are on their way now to CGC, who has kindly agreed to grade a portion of the books for free. At the end of the contest, the books will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to the Heroes Initiative.

sckao has graciously agreed to assist in the scoring duties again this year. You may sign in by stating your intention to participate in this thread. Graphics designed by Flee-Marquette.

The guidelines are as follows:

1.) There will be a 48 hour time limit between rounds. Look at the book; figure out the grade and PM the persons collecting the grades by way of a group PM. This will be the same PM thread you will use to submit all future grades. Please do not create a new PM for each grade submission.

2.) No changing of grades will be allowed once submitted. Post only single, numerical grades. If you post more than one grade (e.g. 8.5/9.0) then your submission for that round will be void as we will not try to determine the grade you intended to submit.

3.) The page quality and any noticeable defects you can not see on the book from the scan will be given for each round. Do not PM with questions. Like Schultz on Hogan's Heroes, we know nothing.

4.) Points awarded will be as follows; 5 points for a direct hit, 3 points for 1 grade off, 1 point for 2 grades off and -1 point for 3 grades off. If you are 4 grades off or more, well, you will be ridiculed without mercy.

5.) The contest will take place in the Hey buddy, can you spare a grade? Forum of the message boards.

As suggested by, sckao:

For those who don't know what Nik's Grading Contest was, the last one ended with Toro being crowned Two-Time Champion. There were 22 rounds last time.

In my dear Watson.

You need a comma in there somewhere or...well...

Like it would matter. lol

It matters to me! :sumo:

Which is exactly why I left the comma out.

If in doubt, guess 9.4. It seemed to be his sweet spot.
