That is 10 kinds of awesome

Miscut. Bah. :insane:

I don't think it's miscut, I think it's sitting in the slab just a bit crooked.

I was thinking that, too. A simple $11 reholder and that book would present a lot better.

I wonder if something as simple as that would make any difference in the ending price?

I think it would. I bought an early Supes from a board member that was crooked in the slab. I got it reholdered and it looks much better.

I think it will look better. I doubt it will sell for more unless someone is really going to bid lower because of how it looks in the current holder.

I think some people might think it's mis-cut and might not bid as high as they would otherwise.

A person that thinks that way would be a foolish bidder. I don't think the final two bidders will be in that camp and therefore I don't think the price will be different. 2c

I would consider the reholder if for no other reason than to avoid the possibility of SCS by getting a new inner well. Having fresh microchamber paper is a plus too.

I wonder if that is the Crescent City copy? hm

I know the person that owned the CC and he was slabbing his books back in the early days of CGC and sold most of them by 2005. It seemed plausible to me.

I've done some follow up and been able to confirm that this is not the Crescent City. It's still a really, really sweet copy.

Old label outweighs any benefit from improved presentation in a new label.

Thanks for the confirmation. I don't remember the mis-wrap anyway. But that collection was a long time ago.

Reholdering would keep the old label serial number. Simply mentioning it as an old label that was reholdered in the auction description may have the same impact with better presentation.

I think Tim believes that old label = less chance that the book has been manipulated. I'm not sure that Golden collectors think about that as much as those who collect later eras.

This gorgeous book should be kept in a mylar. Any idea as to its market value [i'm not a Supes collector but this one is nice].

It's a solo highest graded copy of a classic cover. I'm thinking 18-22K.

I was thinking about where you are, maybe up to $25k or so.
