What 1 toy or comic book is priceless to you?

59 posts in this topic

I don't have a comic or toy that is untouchable but this is. I received this from Stan himself, it looks a lot better in person. There are dragon flies all over the place which don't show up in the scan. I love that he personalized it to me, that adds value to me. Stan is an amazing guy.

This would be it for me. Luke's Return of the Jedi saber replica made by a friend long before Master Replicas came on the scene and started producing sabers. Signed by Mark Hamill in Chicago back in the early 90s. Only wish had a picture of him signing it.

Is there a toy or a comic that is priceless to other then a price guide value?

This will always be priceless to me as it represents a simpler time that I seem to yearn for more and more these days. A time when my main daily concern was when my mom would yell to me across the neighborhood that it was time to come home now.

One of the pitfalls of not going to conventions is my lack of sketches

It would be awesome if more artists did what Dave Sim did not too long ago on eBay and offered personalized sketches through the mail :)

This has a bit of a story :blahblah: behind it so please bare with

me.

I've only been collecting for approximately six and half years

and the first three years I mostly bought from e-bay only armed

with a price guide and zero knowledge. I had to fight with my

better half on every purchase and he hated my new hobby.

His hobby is reading Military History so I started to buy DC War

comics to attempt to slowly suck him into liking comics and I

began to notice my favorite artist Russ Heath more and more.

A few very kind e-bay sellers invited me to these boards and it

was amazing those first few months and I remember exchanging

PMs with AdamStrange and his comics blew me away. He sent

me a scan of a Beautiful copy of War Comics 11 by Russ Heath

and I was totally amazed by this book.

I checked out a few other web sites and remember finding a HG

copy and the asking price was close to a thousand dollars and

I thought there's a book I will never own.

I think it was the very first VCC I purchased books from and I

bought a few hundred dollars worth of raw DC War books from

"Buttock" or Dan. The package arrived a few weeks later and

when I opened it there were some freebies in the package and

I nearly fell over when this beauty popped out. This book will

never be sold. :cloud9:

Thanks again Dan!! (worship) (worship) (worship)

That's a great story and exactly why these boards rule. ^^

Mike's fundraiser was awesome and Shark's sale looks like

it's been a success. :cloud9:

Not a bad start for 2011 and it's hard not to appreciate this place

and the many incredible members we have.

I heard through the grape vine that an actual Jedi saber from one of the first Star Wars movies turned up at a comic shop. It was a prop stolen from one of the sets.

I had the same exact Big Wheel Jeff. One of my best memories also comes from this toy. When I was little, my family lived right up the road from my Paw-Paw, who was my favorite person in the world, next to my mom of course. We lived on an old gravel road out in the country, and when the plastic wheels hit the rocks it was ungodly loud. Whenever I would hop on the Big Wheel to head down to my Paw-Paw's, he could hear me coming all the way down the road due to how loud it was. He would always say "Here comes trouble!"

I may not have the Big Wheel anymore, but that is a priceless memory to me. :)

I had one too. It was stored at my grandparents (paternal) but that didn't matter. It was mine and I was there nearly every weekend. Loved it. Some great memories on that thing.

I too remember wearing the wheels out although I seem to remember a gaping hole in one of the rear wheels from constantly sliding it sideways.
