What's up with Bing?

17 posts in this topic

I was looking for locations on the FedEx site and they use the map from Bing.

I'm looking where they have marked thinking that I'm looking at the wrong town or something, then it dawns on me. Bing's satellite photo is like 7 to 10 years old. In no way does it resemble what it looks like today.

Is there a reason that Bing can't use a current image? They're a little behind the times.

Wormhole..you are looking back at into the past through a rip in space/time.

See if you can send a message back to your past self and save him from all the time we waste on this site.

While you are at it, send me the same message. :wishluck:

I use Alta Vista and nothing else. :sumo:

Holy blast from the past.. lol!

While awesome about 10-15 years ago, Altavista is now literally just !Yahoo with a different skin.

It's also going to be shut down this year as part of the consolidation of !Yahoo.

I was never a fan of Alta Vista. I used to use Webcrawler a lot back in the day. It seemed to be able to find more free porn than the other ones could. hm

Can't stand Yahoo's search engine. Google is what I use. I can't understand anyone that uses anything else. :screwy:

I always use Google.

I've never used Bing and I hate their commercials. Microsoft better get their marketing and ad agency on the right path. They need to get with the program or they will be left in the dust as they have in recent years with Apple kicking their arse.

I'm not sure "kicking Arse" is what Apple is doing to MSFT...

Yes, as far as operating systems go...sure...because most of the biz world uses Windows...but how many of those OS sales are with their new OS? Very little I would guess. New Windows OS is probably selling poorly if I were a gambling man...

Plus, home computers are probably on an uptick for Apple over the past few years.

Lastly, Apple is kicking Microsoft's butt in non personal computer items...Phones, tablets...

Now with Microsoft buying Skype...that service will probably suck too once they get their hands on it.

Buying Skype for a billion dollars was not eBay's best move, but MSFT buying it for north of 8 Billion?!

MSFT's Bing is making some inroads, but I still use Google by preference.

Both Apple and Google probably make less revenue and profits than Microsoft, but according to this article, they both are worth more than Microsoft purely in terms of brand value:

When I used NCSA Mosaic on the Mac back in '93 or '94 Webcrawler was the only real search engine. I thought I was the only one still around that remembered it. lol

Funny enough, it's still around.

Nope, the latest OS from MSFT is still destroying Apple. Windows 7 currently has about 2 and almost 3 times the installs as that total combined installs of every version of OSX. It's also passed XP.

Win 7 is 34%, OSX 14%

hint, don't gamble. :)

Virtually all of Apple's revenue is from iPhone, iTunes, etc. iPad sales were a larger portion of revenue than their Mac sales last year. :o

Here's some newer data. While Mac is growing, it has a LONG way to go.
