BTW, dropped off my Phantom Lady for framing and the young lady who took the order loved it. Says her husband is into horror comics and would love something like that. I told her about Matt and what he does. She took a pic to show her husband and we exchanged emails addys. I'm gonna email her a link to this thread and Matt's listings on eBay. You're becoming mainstream my friend.

When Walking Dead #1 came out, my lcs guy was telling me what a great book it was and I should grab a copy as they were selling fast. I looked at the cover and thought... ugh terrible cover, briefly flipped through it & passed on it. The mistakes I made that day were 2 fold, one, I lost a great money making opportunity, and two, I was so completely wrong about the cover.

 

Spending as much time as I did with this while working on it, I continually marveled at just how intricate and compositionally masterful it really is. This was easily the most difficult recreation I have done to date, and took me forever to get done. There is a ton of line work smashed in there, and it all reads brilliantly.

 

So here is my take on Walking Dead #1
