Open Letter to Comiclink

82 posts in this topic

A removable sticker would be counterproductive to their goal. They are not buying and placing the sticker on the slab to let you know where you purchased the book. That horse was let out of the barn when you typed comiclink into your address bar and then proceeded to bid on, win and pay for an auction.

They want to have a sticky azz sticker so that when the book trades hands for any multitude of reasons:

1) angry spouse

2) buy more porn

3) crystal meth addiction

4) crystal the transvestite

5) buy more copies of New Mutants 98

they will remind the new owner of this nifty little auction site that they can go to. (thumbs u

I would suggest creating an even stickier sticker that says "SUCKS" and putting that bad boy on right next to their sticker.

hm A thought...

The main argument of folks who do not like the stickers (myself included) are that they are annoying and take time to remove that could better be spent elsewhere. Josh has apparently not responded to reasonable requests (in my view at least) to remove them :juggle:

So maybe annoy Josh and waste some of his company's time. Organize a call in campaign for a particular week and have all of the folks who dislike the labels call Comiclink during business hours and complain about such. Also, post a form email here that the same individuals can send. Perhaps attaching a cost to his choice of advertising would motivate some sort of change

Home depot sells these different size plastic scrapers for like 99 cents. Ive been using them for years to scrape coralline algae (which is normally impossible to scrape off!) out of my saltwater tanks. It never leaves the slightest scratch on glass or acrylic. I'm going to have to try it on one of these comiclink stickers and see what it can do hm

Ok, either I got lucky or you guys are really bad removing labels.

I just took 2 Clink slabs and poured a few drops of olive oil on a paper towel. I wiped down both stickers and waited 30 seconds. Both labels then peeled right off completely whole. It did leave behind maybe 10% of the adhesive on the slab. I wiped the leftover adhesive with the olive oil again and the remaining adhesive wiped right off with a clean papertowel. Both slabs perfectly clean, you'd never know there was a sticker there, in less than 90 seconds.

i'm sure CL will get right on this issue. it's next in line after the site upgrade, the export of data to GPA and the rollout of a searchable past auction database

lol Exactly.

lol That`s a great idea! Then if a book gets sold through Comiclink, let them do all the hard work to get the damn thing off!

That's when they pull out their even bigger and stickier ComicLink sticker and slap it on top of the old CLink sticker and the SUCKS sticker. :gossip:

If you ask a car dealership not to put their logo on the car they won't; Clink apparently couldn't care less what their customers want.

Exactly, and that`s my point. So long as everybody who`s complaining here continues to be willing to hand over their hard-earned dollars to Comiclink for slabs that have the sticker, Comiclink will continue to do it. Why wouldn`t they? They know that their customers` addiction will overcome their aesthetic preferences every time.

knowing how sensitive josh nathanson is, he'd just ban you from the site.

Olive Oil worked! Personally the Extra Virgin was faster than the regular oil so I figure it is costing me 5cents per label in oil to peel these bad boys off.

glad I re-mentioned olive oil and some people is using it to rid of the dumb stickers. I can't remember who was the first that mentioned it here but a big :applause: to whoever that was last year.

I`m already banned from the site, along with all other customers in Asia who don`t have a VPN.

What's the issue? (shrug)

CL doesn't charge for the label .. do they?

Anyway, In the past, I've received the same labels from Metro and Heritage and now I never confuse which auction sites the books were purchased from. :applause:
