>>what constitutes "rare as hell" for a modern comic here?<<

That is a fair question.

In THIS case you have to consider the Chew collector base.

I'll say: 15k

1k is rare as hell for Chew.

A book that no collector base, Ik is NOT rare.

it's too many...

The Chew #29 variants are indeed limited to one thousand.

Rob took a bunch to NYCC

The rest got allocated to 10% of a shops Chew #29 order that took the time to fill out the line order for the variant. If they missed that. They got none regardless what their #.

Of the 1,900 remaining retailers, 1,700 are fat & lazy.

Most missed it.

ie: If your shop orders 100 Chew 29, they qualified for 10, "IF" they ordered it..

Hope that helps

I don't think I have a shop within 300 miles of me that would have ordered more then 10 copies of Chew 29 it doesnt sell well here locally. So I would imagine its a tough find in alot of LCS's.

I was one of the lucky ones to grab one after visiting or calling about 10 shops. I live in philadelphia and in the city/ slash suburbs or even jersey there prob is about 15 shops within 30 mins driving, the only reason why I got one is because I just happened to ask the owner the hell of it, thinking I was just going to hear the same story. And behold he pulls one from behind the corner and says, " but it will be 8 dollars." We'll I sent my chew variant out to cgc today ( fast tracked of course) . Hoping it pulls a 9.6 or better

I would love to get another one for close to cover at a shop, but I know that will basically be impossible. So I might try getting one through eBay. Looks like prices are coming down from the 30 I saw listed for on Wednesday

Just wondering...with TWD #100 1:200 variant, is that considered rare?

I don't know the final #'s on the 1:200 but I remember people saying it's not that rare, and I bought it at a high price so I thought it would have been "rare".

TWD 100 print run was what, 350,000?

not every group of 200 would produce a variant, so probably like a 1000 print run book? bounded by about 1750?

It's rare, compared to the other variants on the issue, but not exceedingly rare as far as variants go.

math is off the top of my head, WD guys can feel free to correct and belittle me as needed.

i took the gamble.

let's see what happens

I gambled on 3 lots.

I figured I would get a couple really cool books out of it.

Looks like this is just a way for them to get rid of the drek. Good luck.

True but their drek is usually listed at $12 or more per book. If it truly is random (and not 3 lots of the same ) I could get 2-4 really nice books.

Like I said I gambled so my fingers are crossed.
