My website is breaking with My Little Pony.

It's an indicator.

When the series hits 11-21 get some.

I just cant bring myself to do it.

I hope it sells well for you Larry, but there so far as a comic book collector

I will go and this book just crosses the line for me. I am sure I am missing out but I just cant do it. There has got to be some other boardies thinking along the same lines.

I'm with you there. I have to have some kind of connection to the books I'm buying and this one doesn't appeal to me at all. How can a book that's aimed at little girls appeal to grown men? $65 Variants wouldn't be aimed at 7 year old girls that's for sure. Surely they would read the regular book and that would be it.

#1 I collect comics. I am not going to collect My Little Pony. I apprectaate it's graphic beauty. I think it's a very well done cartoon.

#2 I speculate on modern comics. MLP seems to have it all.

I have NO interest in My Little Pony Pony other than a great product for my shop that will sell for decades & speculative play.

( and ALL those adorable Ponies prancing about )

:)

For me, I grew up during the 80's watching cartoons. So personally, even though I never played with the toys (kinda girly), I still can't get the theme song of My Little Pony out of my head that played on the commercials at the time when I was 8. lol

That kinda nostalgia of a time of not worrying about bills, a dead job or what's happening in the world, but only about finishing up a weekend homework assignment using construction paper, while this song is playing really makes me want to capture memories again from that era that I ignored and probably others feel that way too. I know that it's all relative and the fact that we are discussing comic books isn't lost on me. But still, grown men obsessed with what was always something aimed at pre pubescent girls just creeps me out. Call me an old reactionary but there it is.

I won't buy my little pony ... it would make me feel too weird. I don't have any little girls to give the comics to and I don't buy comics to sell that I don't read/enjoy.

I think it's at least worth it to buy a regular variant of the comic for 4 bucks. You might like it, and if you don't burn it with fire.

For me, I'm a brony that's never collected anything in his life. I refuse to buy the MLP toys and things because what would I do with them. However, the show is amazing (at least to me) and I chose to go with the comic books to support the franchise. While I have no use for toys, comic books have their own story lines that stem off the show, which have entertainment value.

Another plus is I'm just beginning to see all this other comic book franchises that I am interested in. *Insert gateway drug/comic analogy here*

I am right with you. It's not a judgement of those that decide to collect or speculate on the book. While this title is geared towards a young girl audience, it isn't scripted, drawn, printed and marketed by children....it's done by adults. This doesn't make the people involved "creepy", it shouldn't make people who feel that there's money to be made by speculating on it creepy. It makes them business savvy.

You guys don't realize that there is a My Little Pony Pop Culture Phenom going on right now...I thought it was just a young girls thing too but it's like Hello Kitty has gotten in the last few years....it is appealing to teenagers and college kids (male & female). There's a lot of current cool Pop Culture tapping into the My Little Pony world and vice/versa.

re: Not buying MLP for speculation purposes

Would you / did you not buy Tickle Me Elmo to flip because they were for babies / toddlers?

(I couldn't because I worked for a toy store and didnt want to lose my job, but I was able to get it for people that did. Kind of the same thing I guess...)

I think a lot of us realise it. Especially the ones with kids. I'd probably be on board with the MLP comic for more than a reading copy for the girls if it was done by Lauren Faust. That lady is amazing at what she does.

The people who couldn't care less about MLP should check out the shorts she did for Warner, they are very similar to MLP but feature Wonder Girl, Supergirl and Batgirl.

Way off topic here in an ebay thread :sorry:

haha! You didn't come up to me at Dragon con did you??? This Brony thing is a phenomenon. I almost feel like if i don't have a favorite pony come next dragon con i will be scorned and ridiculed. Larry's right though. This book is going to be a huge success. It does have all the right ingredients.
