Batman 313 is still burning it up. A whitman in nice grade is a gold mine.

Justice Society 1 is seeing a nice bump along with Toxic Avenger 1.

Bloodstone 1 passing $100 easy now

Ironheart 1 2nd print is really really impressive.

Armor wars is selling very well.

Several Cap issues I think are going to continue to appreciate 310,312,323,332,333 and so on.
Grab them cheap if you can.

Dont look now, but Kid N play books sell very well now. Almost every issue in NM
Sells well. I rarely see them so I understand.

Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi Newsstand 1 wow

Star Wars Rogue Squadron now a $50+ book

I have np selling ASM 583 1st print or Cougar Variant None what so ever.
Look for Savage Dragon 253 to continue to sell well for awhile. Already in
2nd print.

When did the Hulk vs Venom book become so expensive?

Star Wars Annual 4 Variant. Wow

Ms Marvel 1 7th print still pulling big bucks

ASM 666 Comic shop variants are a thing.

Ultimate Comics All New Spider-man 1 Wow

ASM 2nd prints in the 655 area really good sellers.

I don’t understand why second, third, fourth, etc. prints are valuable and sought after these days.. I know somebody will tell me “low print run” which I kind of get, but with that logic what’s the point of ever buying a newly released comic these days until the second printing comes out..?

and if the particular comic is a first appearance then how are later prints of that issue still considered the first appended when they are released months after the true first appearance (first print) came out?

By that logic my facsimile Hulk 181 is the first appearance of Wolverine and surely has a lower print run than the original, so how much are you willing to pay me for it?

Am I the only one who is baffled by this recent trend? I just don’t see the value of these later prints holding up

the later prints are not really considered the 1st appearance. case in point, the second ("gold") print of NM 87, which is maybe a $5-$10 book on a good day. the 2d, 3rd, etc. prints start mattering more when they have different covers and/or really low print runs and it is a genuine challenge to hunt them down.

and you don't know if there will ever be a second print or if anyone will care about it.

some second prints are much bigger than the first, particularly for an overlooked or underordered book.

as for your hulk 181 facsimile, it may have had a lower print run (and remember, 181 was sold only via newsstand version, so I believe it was all returnable, so maybe 50% of the run was returned and pulped, absent some mile high type scamming), but there are vastly more high grade copies hanging around, and probably more copies in general as comics get destroyed over the course of 45 years. and it is also the badjillionth reprint of the story anyway, 45 years later.

a little while ago i was very excited when i came across a grimm fairy tales 1 in my unsorted boxes of I have fished out of dollar boxes over the years. well, that $75-100 in hand quickly turned into $15-$20 (maybe) when I opened it up and saw it was the second print.

There’s been a couple Hulk 181s reprinted in Wolverine vs Hulk comics. one in the 80s and another prestige format in the 90s. Supervillain Classics 1 Galactus Origin which reprints FF48 is selling for a decent amount around $25+ direct, $30-40+ newsstand. Marvel Saga 24 also reprints FF48 that can sell for up to $10

There is certainly a recent trend of a lot of 2nd and 3rd prints+ being worth more than the 1st print which was almost unherd of with maybe a small handful of exceptions. Now there are quite a few. The 1st edition is still usually worth more, but the exceptions list list growing

Some examples of the top of my head
Darth Maul 2
Kanan the Last Padawan 1
Darth Vader 3
Dawn of the Jedi 1
Captain Marvel 17
All-New Marvel Now Point One! 1
Amazing Spider-man 569
Amazing Spider-man 654
Superman Batman Annual 4
Man of Steel 20
Batman 608
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 5
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 6
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 7
Venom 2
Ms Marvel 1

Is this a new thing?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hulk-16-Awesome-Red-She-Hulk-1st-Appearance-NM-Beauty-Wow-/402461283908?hash=item5db48fd644%3Ag%3Aml4AAOSw2NVfcRfR&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

because i remember looking this book up not that long ago (pre-covid though) because it has a good cover and figured it might be worth something and being very disappointed... like sales at cover price or less...or am I hallucinating and remembering it wrong and this has been worth something for a while?

Edit: OK, I guess Disney made some announcement in October? as I see tons of $29.99 BINs on the book around then? And $65 is a bit on the high side. But still not a $3 book.

anyone have an idea why the second print Star Wars from 77 hasn't moved or isn't considered a valuable reprint?

I'm guessing its because there are a lot of them.
And it was always a bummer when the person thought they had the "rare 35 cent variant" when in fact it was the near worthless reprint. I can't count how many times I've had to be the bad guy and tell the person they had the diamond and not the box with the slightly offset 35.

But it seems like it should be worth more than it is now.

trillions of them? weren't there a million copies printed between the 1st and reprints? and i doubt unsold newsstand copies were returned because they didn't go unsold. the 1st print is incredibly common as it is, it is only worth something because of what it is. i have owned 10-15 copies of this book over the years (not the reprints, which i tend to avoid). i did not pay more than $5 for any of them and most were $1-$2 (all purchased before force awakens and maybe the prequels, mostly in the mid 90s)

I'm not seeing any sales on any Q&W comics.

It was mostly a joke. While it's true that the second print will set you back more than the first, that's because there was only one copy created and sold for charity. I think it sold for 4 figures.

Ahhh, OK. This was related to the subsequent prints > first prints, not a general post on comics heating up.
