I understand your point of view, it can be a little annoying when cosplayers block the isles with picture taking/posing, etc. but like anything else when living in a society, you take the good with the bad. it's never been much of an issue with me.

Byrne's a master of sequential art and in this case it really shows. It's funny how reading tastes differ. I actually love when you have to go back and really analyze the panels. Silent narratives are fun and push the artist to show the action instead of telling us what's going on.

 

Well no, I'm not saying that's not my taste, or I don't like going back to analyze. I just don't like when I either_

 

1-Can't figure out if I'm "getting" it or not. Like, I'll THINK I get it, but sometimes it's hard to see if that's what was intended. I like at least being able to confirm somewhere if I know what I'm talking about, or if I'm way off base.

 

2-The art is jumbled, ambiguous, very confusing, makes strange jumps from scene to scene, to the point were it's hard to make out what is happening (this can be coupled with odd or confusing dialoque as well, to really mess up the story).

There is no way ever that DC's female deadpool ever comes close to the craziness that is the fan base of TWD.

I'm talking about the books WD1 CGC 9.8 vs BA12 CGC 9.8 dollar for dollar, GPA for GPA. Once the dump fest begins during season 4 and then kick into high gear during the break, the market, with the saturation of WD1s will drive that book under 1500 by December. BA12 is closing the GPA gap even as season 4 approaches. Sorry

On a side note, I do love the WD show and will watch it every sunday night as I have in the past. I dont see as much fan support at shows for WD at shows ie cosplay and lack of availability of books as I notice for Harley. Ebay is another area watered down with WD. Do you want to show your support and pay me 2000 for my 9.8s?

 

1- Why is Batman Adventures #12 surging right now? I don't read DC, so not sure (I'm thinking her new series is the reason).

 

2-If you're going to dress up, who WOULD dress as a walking dead character? I mean, they pretty much just wear regular clothing. Only really recognizable characters would be people with hats (ie. Dale or Ricardo), the Governor (eye patch and fu-manchu), and Michone (swords , dreds, purple cape). And not really that interesting of costumes.

I wouldn't go that far, cons can be enjoyed on different levels, if someone wants to dress up as their favorite character, so be it. and if parents want to bring their kids what's wrong with that? It's superheroes after all. and in my experience parents do buy comics for their kids, it may be the $1 to $10 variety, but that's ok as well.

 

Exactly. Comics started off as mainly for kids. Plus you have all the stuffed animals and plushes, toys, costumes, play weapons. Geez.

 

I DO agree with the dressup people, to some extent. There's so many people who go to these things just to be seen, or say that they went. They just kind of hang around, trying to look cool/look soooo "nerdy" (in an attempt to look hip).

 

Meanwhile, I have to wade through 1,000s of these people just to see the vendors wares, try to buy something, have to line up for hours for every friggin thing, etc.

 

In Ottawa this year, I bought the 3 day pass just so I could get in early on Friday and bypass all the nonsense/get all my shopping done early and out of the way. I didn't even go on Saturday. I probably would have lost it (plus, had a rugby game).

I bought one mainly for older stuff, as it stays pretty consistant for the most part. I find it's good to give an idea/ballpark of the prices on older issues.

Whats wrong with it?

 

1. Kids count for the count of people in the room, meaning if a convention sells out or is at capacity the kids are taking up the space of an adult.

 

2. people in cosplay do not buy comics

 

3. strollers in the way of alleys where people are walking

 

4. Cosplayers in alleys where people are walking taking pictures

 

5. Cosplayers bring out the worst in people, i.e. creepy old men taking pictures of there butts and posting it on an internet forum

 

There is a lot wrong with Cosplayers and children at shows those are just my opening points.

3-Agreed. If you're bringing a kid, use a carrier thing you can wrap around yourself, backpack thingy, or get a small, narrow stroller, not the friggin White People deluxe gluten-free, organic stroller.

Ive seen plenty of Cosplayers buying comics. Maybe not $100 comics, but comics. Hence the difference they read the books not store them in plastic.

Now overall I get the point they arent the buying market for sellers, but they do buy.

They do both attract attention to the convention from other markets and do market the convention as well.

 

Banning or even suggesting leaving kids out of conventions is ridiculous. You are choking your own future throat there saleswise.

 

When my kids were young we did bring strollers to shows and yes its an inconvience for both traffic and the poor parents. Whats next ban wheelchairs too?

 

In a few years your opinions will change some when you start a family. You will still want to go do shows and to do so you might have to bring the kids.

 

I think parents need to be responsible and curtious with their strollers. Some are just oblivious, bump in to people, leave them in the middle of crowded aisles, etc.

 

I mean, with kids, if I'm bringing my kids because they're interested in the stuff, it's fun for them, then ya, don't be an ogre J-Ling.

 

But, if parents are just bringing them along to babysit, then maybe get a babysitter for that day.
