cary grant was a comedic genius with awesome timing. bringing up baby with katherine hepburn is hilarious.

 

if you ever want to read a fantastic book, read the princess bride. the movie is pretty faithful and the book just adds on layers.

 

and for a newer movie, i gotta mention old school.

Take your pick between A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races. The Marx Brothers first developed so many of the conventions of comedy still used today that it boggles the mind. "Opera" boasts, among others, the famous stateroom scene on board the oceanliner. "Races" has the contract scene between Groucho and Chico ("The party of the first part of this contract shall be referred to as the party of the first part...").
