Most members have threatened to use info about my family to turn me into a quivering puddle of pain.

He's a standup guy, please keep defending him.

So is that why he was given a strike? He got 3 threads locked after that thread, and the thread went on for 200 more posts after that.

Why didn't Arch use "Threats" like he did with Transplant if that's the case?

Arch said trolling, which leads me to believe it was all the different threads and fights going on simultaneously getting thread after thread locked.

I didn't see what he said to you the first time around actually, or maybe I saw him say something about shredding you without moderation being in place and you laughing it off.

There's no way anyone on this board should be talking about using personal information against anyone else. That's just wrong.

Was this about the time you two were fighting across that thread for hours, weren't you? Back and forth and back and forth? Am I imagining that? It was about the same time several people were trying to shift the thread to joking around and diffuse the hotness.

As I said it's never ok to talk about personal lives or families, part of this sounds like two guys throwing punches in the ring and one guy went below the belt.

I called RMA out immediately for saying what he did and that's that. I never said he got a strike for what he did, he earned that strike all on his own.

If RMA decides to tell me that talking about my family, which is the only personal info I share, can turn me into a puddle of pain, that's a problem.

I'm still baffled that you continue to defend him. (shrug)

I am baffled that you think I am defending his actions in saying what he said, while at the same time refusing to acknowledge that the two of you fought back and forth for quite a while in that thread with him making a statement that sounded threatening that you laughed off and the two of you continued to bait each other until he crossed the line.

The amount of things you guys said to each other was uncalled for and really childish from both of you, then RMA crossed a line. You can't acknowledge that enough to realize that I am not defending him to make mention of the fact that you weren't sitting there reading scripture when he sucker punched you.

Your mixing your posters like you are your words. :baiting: If I'm anyone's lawyer, they are gonna die. Even if they were in for a parking ticket.

I didn't say sending a PM was fine, I said you could. I see you are splitting hairs with the PM comment. Fine, add "after you join the boards and without posting" :acclaim:

By posting a message on a message board you are seeking attention. While you are also looking for answers or opinions or camaraderie, you are still seeking attention.

I like titch. I think you have had a titch of sake. :)

That is not necessarily true. He already laid out other reasons for posting, "to seek information and/or opinions. Or to just share ideas or acquisitions with like minded folk."

I haven't seen anything from you that rebuts those as alternative motivations for posting.

You can seek information and opinions without posting in a public fashion. Sharing ideas and acquisitions will be done publicly. By sharing ideas or acquisitions on a message board, you are seeking attention from other like minded people.

Being an attention whore is just higher on the scale.

There's physical bullying and there is cyber bullying.

Neither is acceptable.

Again absolutely true.

I represented the family of a girl, whose classmates signed her up for dozens of pornographic websites, posted her address on craigslist as an escort for hire, with her home address and phone number and photograph listed. She tried to kill herself.

THAT'S Cyber Bullying.

Having seen the real thing. I don't think two 30-40 something year old men having a disagreement on a forum is cyber bullying.

So you are basically saying that murder is a valid crime but being cut with a knife by someone, say, on the arm, is not a valid crime because it does not compare with murder?

No I am saying murder is an actual crime, and hurting your feelings because you can't debate well on a flipping comic message board isn't.

Why did you side-step my comparison? Are you saying someone slicing me with a knife on the arm without provocation is not a crime?

Your comparison identified two actual different crimes, but both crimes.

My post identified something that's actually a crime and something that's NOT a crime, anywhere.

So your comparison contains two sides of the same coin and mine might as well be as different as a dime and a red snapper.

Actually it IS a crime HERE. Like it or not private enterprises like this message board are like countries. They have rules that can be enforced outside of the judicial system. It is why strikes can be given for somehting that would be thrown out of court in the judicial system. But within the "society" of the message board, strikes and bans can be given. Certain actions can indeed be seen as "crimes" within the context of the private message board society.

So how many strikes do you get for murdering someone then? Is it a lot?

They seemed pretty steamed about using the journals. I can only imagine that it must be worse, right?

The analogy was making the point that something being a lesser crime does not negate the fact that it's a crime, just as breaking the rules on a forum to a lesser extent doesn't... etc.

The point was I mentioned an actual, real world, real law, real consequences crime and it's being equated to violating a message board guideline for decorum.

Perspective.

1) We all crave attention. Otherwise we would not post.

Many people post to seek information and/or opinions. Or to just share ideas or acquisitions with like minded folk. Does that necessitate "craving attention"?

PS - before you answer please note I replied to you and hopefully gave you a titch of the attention you seem to crave. :hi:

I can seek information and opinions without even being a member of this Board. I can share ideas and acquisitions through PM's.

Posting a graemlin or a wall of text is seeking some amount of attention be it from one person or one thousand. Validation and attention seeking aren't that far apart.

Titch? Who says titch? :hi:

Yes. I got it. No, I haven't used it. :(

AGAIN you side step. Can you please drop the lawyer-tude for a bit? You are saying sending a PM for info is fine but posting a message on a MESSAGE board for info is seeking attention? What? They should assiduously read the boards, keep constant note of who may know what, and then send perhaps multiple PMs to find answers or various opinions? Seems much less efficient than just posting a simple message on a MESSAGE board.

BTW - I don't know a message board that allows you to send PMs to members without joining the board. That was a titch silly, don't you think?

Oh - I say "titch". It is a good word. between a smidgeon and a pinch...a titch. (thumbs u

Honestly, my sake days are behind me. As are my wine and cubra libra days. My blood pressure is all the better for it.

But I am a titch saddened that you noticed I had a penchant for sake but seem unaware of my tenacity and love of digging into ideas and arguments.

But listen to USArmyParatrooper. He seems to understand what I am saying. If he can, why not you? :(

I think his analogy makes sense. When describing a given action that one views as negative, the existence of a similar but significantly more negative action does not render the former action as being neutral.

But the reason for choosing a public venue can simply be for the sake of greater efficiency. It doesn't have to be for the sake of desiring attention for yourself. I suppose if I was seeking opinions on Old Man Logan prior to purchasing the trade, I could send out mass PM's. But wouldn't it make more sense to ask for opinions publicly?

Of course you think his analogy makes sense, you created the "man in the park getting yelled at, let's save him." analogy. Every other analogy looks like it was dipped in God Sauce by comparison. lol

I'm tired. It's late.

There will be more 40 year old men to save from other 40 year old men tomorrow.

It speaks to the character of an individual. If I meet someone on the street and we have words, I will defend myself with that individual. No one can argue if I knock someone out or get knocked out. But if I I walk over and slap the individuals girlfriend, I'm just a sad piece of shiiit. I'm sorry for you if you can't make that distinction.

I will try and see someone else's side, but trying to use my family against me is the most pathetic thing a man can do. Your lawyering won't convince me otherwise. I'm done with this stupid thread like I'm done with that piece of garbage RMA. Continue to make your rebuttals, that's a good wagon to hitch yourself to. (thumbs u

From my recollection, posts were being exchanged that were getting into it. RMA made the implied threat. Mikenyc called him out on it and then said he was going to leave for a while. I don't remember any laughing off of the situation from Mikenyc mainly because I don't think that happened.

Regardless of a heated debate...it is not acceptable to do what RMA did. Lots of us post pictures of our family, comics, rooms, etc. Just posting that and having it cross ones mind that they could cause someone pain because of that is frankly kind of sick.

Sure, it would be more efficient but the point is you are still seeking attention regardless of how small. That doesn't mean that is the entire intention behind posting on a message board but it is part.

Good for you on the sake. Of course I noticed your tenacity for debating. You want the attention. lol:kidaround:

I don't think this is worthy of a full on debate. One or two replies max before it ceases to be worth the effort.

Sorry, I couldn't find a way to cram titch in there.
