What's taking so long?!

I would hate to have my very first post sound like a complaint. However, it's been 2 months since my recent submission has been verified & still no grades? I've only waited longer for results on a submission once... & that was 30 book SS convention submission that somehow NONE of the books were signed.(big oops on the SS department) They made it right though.

I'm not sure how much graders make, but I would be glad to move to Florida & take a job as a grader. Think that I might be able to expedite the grading process just a bit? ;)

p.s. No seriously...its effin freezing up here!

It would be pretty cool to be a CGC grader to make your living, but in order to be one, you cant have any affiliations with anything comic book related outside of the work place (No reading or collecting comics). I guess they want people to have absolutely no interest in comics so the grades can be more accurately and professionally graded and not favor a book because of what it is and give it a higher grade. I guess they treat it the same as the court of law treats finding a jury for a case. They dont want any conflict of interest. Has anyone else heard of this?

That's simply not true - Steve Borock has been documented saying (while he was still there) that CGC staff are mainly fanboys who love the hobby themselves. Ask Timely if he was not allowed to collect comics. :gossip:

To confirm: CGC staff cannot sell their books. They can still buy and collect, and they have specialists in different areas.

I don't know about you guys, but if I saw an Amazing Spider-Man #252 (love) and a Spawn #1 (not a fan) with the exact same 1 inch tear on the back cover, I would grade it the same.
