Will CGC do SS for anyone?

27 posts in this topic

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm not very good at pushing the search button...

Can I sign something in front of a CGC rep and have it SS'd with my name on it? Talk about provenance... I know exactly which two books I want...

Possibly

The only two ways I know that you can have a book done for CGC SS is

If you are some way connected to the book (ie a letter published etc)

OR

If it is a blank cover and you draw a sketch on it

Those are the only two ways I know that you can have your name on a SS label.

Or appear in person like I did in "The Twelve" #9. :acclaim:

Go to the cgc booth at heroes. If youve got the money and are doing somethin innocent i doubt they turn you away.

I've kind of wondered this one myself. Grimm Fairy Tales 46 has pictures of a model dressed as Snow White on the back inside cover. I took those pictures and can prove it because I have the entire session of pictures whereas no one else (including the model) does. Think they would let me do an SS?

That's kind of what I'm thinking... worth asking. I'm leaving for Amsterdam on Saturday afternoon, but the Con is directly across the street from my office. Maybe I can slide in during lunch and see what happens. *fingers crossed*

How forgiving are the graders when it comes to a sketch cover? Do they ignore indents from a pen or pencil? Just curious how the artists manage to draw on the cover and it comes back a 9.8. What will the graders deduct for other than the usual stuff like color breaking creases?

You know, I often wonder about this; my daughter came out on the cover of a local events magazine, if she signed the front (scribbled, she's 2), could this be graded and be SS?
