Ran across this while sorting through my collection and being Saturday

made me remember the fun that it was to visit the newsstand on Bloomfield

Avenue every Saturday and pick up one or two comics, depending on how I

had done delivering groceries from the A&P Market. I would take my wagon and

wait outside the market with four or five other kids for people who had large bags

of groceries and ask them if they needed help getting them home. The going rate

was 10 cents. As soon as I got 40 or 50 cents I was off to the newsstand. I only

needed 17 cents for the afternoon movie and 5 cents for candy...the rest went to

comics.

Thanks for the kind remarks!

Here's one I just had to pick-up off the newsstand, if only to find out who was behind

the curtain. It's a little beat up after all these years...but still a great read.

While going through my collection I realized what a great variety of titles

4-Color offered and how many I had bought off the rack at W.T. Grants.

Marty,

Did you have to think twice about shelling out the extra nickel for those?

I sure did...that's why I have so few of them.

Marty, did you see the World's Finest books all the time? Rumor has it that they weren't distributed as well as 10 centers because that extra nickel made them a harder sell.

I don't remember seeing them too often, especially between 1946 and 1948...but again

spending the extra nickel was a big decision.

WORLD'S FINEST did have some really good stories that you don't see too often.

That's why these books are worth buying. Some of the covers are corny, but they always have good interiors. You can't go wrong with a GA Joker story.

FORUMITE AWARD

It was truly a great surprise to find out I had been given an award...

an award for something that has given me a lot of enjoyment over

the past couple of years...being able to share my collection with

others that appreciate comics as much as I do.

For all of you that follow my ramblings...thank you!

Still "The Top Two In My Collection".
