Yes, there's some great artwork in there, and the stories are an improvement on many of their contemporaries. Here's a couple of splashes from DMQ #6

Always enjoyed finding a copy of SMASH COMICS on the newsstand...

always thought that MIDNIGHT looked a lot like the SPIRIT.

Midnight was another Spirit which might have boosted sales but he was a great character when illustrated by Jack Cole.

WF had some good stories but the goofy covers hold it back in our current cover-centric hobby.

it is why I was a Marvel zombie over so many years, the goofy DC covers turned me off.

Before I settled on war bonds covers as a theme I mulled over some other possibilities. Submarines... and kangaroos. I never noticed that one before. It's interesting to see how American artists drew them - that guy would have a very hard time hopping far with all the weight he's carrying. lol
