Not sure how many NEW YEAR'S type covers are out there but I ran across this one that

I've had for 70 years.

Looking back at item's I've scanned over the past year I thought I might share these.

A page from HENRY ALDRICH Comics #14 shows DeHaven's Drugstore which was a

location used on the radio show...located in West Chester, PA it was the hometown

of the programs creator. The photo from June 1939 shows my Father (on the left)

who worked at the same DeHaven's Drugstore for about three years.

Now that is an awesome combination right there Marty!!

I lived about 15 - 20 minutes east of downtown West Chester in Newtown Square for a few years. I don't think DeHaven's was still around.

Bruce or Todd may know though as they are still in the area

As another former native and currently working in West Chester I thought I could check out the location. I was looking for a time machine like Marty has and was hoping I could find a chocolate malt and racks filled with golden age comics.

"I think it is now the Greene Street Consignment Shop at 106 Gay Street. All drug stores have been replaced by CVS."

If you will indulge me one more photo from the past that is slightly related to comics,

my Father (center forefront) was an Usher at the BELMONT THEATRE in Philadelphia

in 1933...this photo was taken at the debut of DISNEY'S short 8 minute cartoon "THE

THREE LITTLE PIGS". The cartoon was so popular that while the main features changed

weekly, the cartoon continued to run for weeks to large crowds.

Note: In the background you can see a guy thumbing his nose at the camera.

In looking back I realize what great buys you got for a dime.

Besides an exciting cover you had stories with THE FLASH, THE HAWKMAN, THE ATOM,

THE BLACK CANARY and THE GHOST PATROL.

Action 6, 5.0 Ow/w and Action 24, 9.0 Rockford Ow. I'm totally jazzed. If I open the Rockford I'll show you the insides. First Jimmy Olsen and first mention of the Daily Planet in a comic book. Woof!IMG_0078.jpg
