I heard Romitaman moved the Steranko Shield # 3 cover on preview night.

Cheers!

Do you know if it sold at the $100K he was asking?

Trade but great stuff, some of which he's already sold.

Someone in CG said the Shield #3 went to Jonathon Ross, the tv & radio presenter.

Yes

We may need more con art photos first, but here's a fun game. Look at the photos of art booths from the last five or more years of San Diego conventions. See how many of the same originals the same dealers still have on their walls from year to year. Whoever finds the most repeated originals for the most years wins.

Does the art necessarily have to be with the same dealer . . .

I'm pretty sure we can find plenty of examples of exactly the same art with exactly the same dealers year after year after year. But maybe we could also get a variant game going. Three points for every year the same art is with the same dealer, one point if art from one dealer has gone to another with a bonus point if one can prove the art went directly from one dealer to another dealer--no collector owned it in-between.

Not sure why Ross would want to trade for the cover as he's not exactly strapped for cash. His wife scripted the Woman in Black movie, incidentally.

That's actually a question a lot of us have been wondering privately as well.

Just cause he's not strapped for cash, doesn't mean he wants to overpay...

Just because you're not strapped for cash doesn't mean you're willing to pony up whatever dealers' are asking.

At some point we're going to hit a ceiling.

He had an £18 million ($28 million) deal with the BBC over 3 years.

I'd understand more if the material he traded wasn't A List, but at that salary level you could afford to hang on to your best pages and build a nice collection.

Maybe Jane's got him on a budget ? hm

Just because you're wealthy doesn't mean you like to be taken. Also, isn't swapping one of the fun aspects of the hobby?

He would have been better off just paying the cash price, for what he gave up. But maybe he was in a trading mood. Whatever the case, a major coup for Mike.
