That current nm/mt auction..

In the email for bid confirmation it shows the BIN at $300.. I just checked and see that BIN option is not listed on the actual site though

that was part of the original listing. once a bid is placed the "buy it now" is off the table.

Wonder if Eric Stephenson is reading the growing backlash against multiple variants.

This board is generally a few months ahead of the general public.

GPA should be quite interesting, not to mention ebay CS in a few months time.

You can only exploit the golden goose for so long.

Where is there a growing backlash?

Thought Bubble...good way to get UK readers excited

CBLDF $5/10 each and all monies goes to charity

ComicsPro...a way to reach retailers

These aren't shop variants or mass produced books. No one has to buy them but strategically I think all were made with a purpose and I doubt it was to line the creators pockets.

At least I'm not the only one... :sorry:

Read the last 2 or 3 pages (shrug) quite a few people commenting about the increasing amounts.

Yeah, we're not using the print/poster art for anything else. Sorry. It was meant to be its own thing. We might include it in a hardcover some day or something, but it will never be a cover for anything.

In regard to the ComicsPro variant: Around 300 were given out. I think we printed 500 total, of which Nate, Jordie, Fonografiks, Image employees and myself got the rest. We did these as a thank you for ComicsPro retailers, just as we did the CBLDF to help support the Fund. We're only doing these kind of variants for issue one -- apart from new printings for later issues, we're not doing convention/store/retailer exclusives for the other issues. We're not doing Ghost Variants or Phantom Variants or variants for specific stores, ever.

Bottom line, if you don't like them, feel free to do the same thing I do when a book I collect has multiple covers: buy the one(s) you like. We're not doing these because we want YOU to buy multiple copies, we're doing them because we want as many copies as possible in the marketplace, because we want people to read our books.

The reason we do different covers for second and third printings is because new art makes them stand out on the racks instead of looking like something from however many weeks ago. The whole point is to catch people's eyes. We would honestly rather do one printing of everything and reach the market that way, but sometimes it takes a while for everyone to figure out how they're ordering something new. It's my sincere hope that we're not doing reprints of Nowhere Men past the first arc.

In the mean time, don't buy what you don't want/need. If that means this book, in any and all forms, so be it. I don't buy books I don't want, and I wouldn't ask any of you to do differently.

I couldn't get myself to care about the NWM story (might give it another shot down the line), but it's been pretty fun reading all the posts tonight about the ComicsPro variant.

I think these releases make the hobby exciting, but at the same time, it also makes me thankful that I stopped caring about getting every variant a long time ago. Personally, I think it's insane that a different color scheme for a cover is already pushing $160.

But I understand the angst and excitement of the chase, so good luck to everyone who wants a copy. Hopefully you can all get one (at a reasonable price). (thumbs u

Did the 7 copy NWM #1 lot get discussed here earlier? It was up to $284 with 24 bids but now is listed as no longer being available. Anyone know if it was ended early due to offline sale OR ended due to shill bidding?

+1

If you don't like the variants, then don't pay silly prices for them. Wonder how those fools that paid $800+ for raw ASM #700 Ditko variants feel now? lol
