Mumford's Comics
I was pleasantly surprised when I sold this CGC 9.8 Omega the Unknown #1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-the-UNKNOWN-1-CGC-9-8-HIGHEST-GRADE-JIM-MOONEY-ART-/111473701961?rd=1 I had thought I over paid for it when I bought it, but apparently not. Is there a reason for the recent heat on these late 70's books suddenly exploding? Like Ms. Marvel #1 used to be a dead book. Everybody just collected the Mystique issues just 5 years ago. Nova #1 & Rom#1 are also ridiculous right now after being relatively ignored over for years. Edited October 14, 2014 by Mumford's Comics
ygogolak
Every day they get older. They are 30 years old or more and the market is good right now. Nova is understandable. A book like this is a tad confusing.

People are trying to move on whatever might be next, instead of waiting for announcements.
Chip Cataldo
Plus it's not like it's the *books* that are skyrocketing...it's the *labels*. Specifically, the 9.8 labels. That's all. Peace, Chip
Apollo34
I've noticed Detective 474 keeps climbing. I read somewhere about a Suicide Squad movie. I thought Deadshot right away. Went to see his first app and it is Batman 59. Most people will be going for his second app 474. Looked at finished listings and they are being bought up. Still affordable though. scooter99
Hi Why hasn't STAR TREK 1 from 1980 moved at all? Its dirt cheap at around 3 bucks for a nm copy Because I bought 25 copies off the rack when it came out. The moment I sell them, they will go up hundredfold. rjrjr
Hi Why hasn't STAR TREK 1 from 1980 moved at all? Its dirt cheap at around 3 bucks for a nm copy Outside of the Gold Key title and a few odds and ends, most Star Trek comics are worthless. I think the reason for this is the genericness of most of these comics. Star Trek 18, the last issue in Marvel's first run, actually has a greater value than the 1st issue, fetching $8-12. The Star Trek 1 you are referring to is the first part of a 3 part adaptation of the Star Trek movie, correct? Like many movie adaptations from this period, that comic is actually a reprint. In this case, the original material can found in Marvel Super Special 15, a magazine or the Marvel Star Trek: The Motion Picture, a paperback. I suspect the paperback came first like it did for the Empire Strikes Back adaptation, but I haven't really researched this. I collect the Star Trek comics and while my collection is not complete, I'm getting pretty close on having a full run going back to the first Gold Key issue. I reckon that's going to be a huge shot in the arm for the character.
